Building Resilience: Thriving In The Face Of Adversity

Leading an organization or team throws multiple challenges at you. From dealing with difficult people, to making life-changing decisions, and making mistakes, leadership requires you to be resilient.

If you can’t bounce back from the challenges thrown your way, you won’t last long as a leader. We don’t want that. Neither do you!

So, how do you build resilience as a leader? It’s not easy, but you can do it.

5 Strategies For Thriving In The Face Of Adversity (Or How To Build Resilience)

You may not feel confident enough to build your resilience, but you can. Even when you lack the resilience you need to keep going in your daily tasks, you can apply some of what you do have to build more.

It seems counterintuitive, but you can. Now, let’s dive into the strategies to help you become more resilient.

Creating A Continuous Learning Environment For Personal And Professional Growth

You get to a leadership position because of the hard work you’ve put into yourself. There are all the personal and self-development tactics that you’ve practiced. There are the books you’ve read and applied. And then there’s the life change you’ve implemented into your life.

Once you’ve got into a leadership position, none of that stops. You have to continue growing and learning. Otherwise, you stagnate and stop growing.

That’s not what you want. It’s not what I want. And it’s not what your team wants.

It’s your responsibility to create an environment where you can continue learning and growing professionally and personally. Don’t stop learning, is what I say!

But, how do you create this continuing learning environment? I’ve shared about creating an environment for growth in previous articles, but we’ll expand on it in this one.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Polar Express

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Welcome to the second movie in the Christmas At The Movies series. It’s a fun look at Christmas movies and the leadership lessons they can teach. We’ve partnered with our church, The Gateway Church, to provide supplemental content as they share the faith-based lessons these movies can teach.

Today, we’re diving into the leadership lessons in The Polar Express. Fun fact for those of you who haven’t been following Reel Leadership and the blog for an extended period of time, I welcomed my friend, James W. Schreier, to share his thoughts on it. He’s a lover of leadership and trains. It was a perfect fit for him. Now, we’re bringing you our take on this family-friendly movie.

5 Leadership Books To Read In December 2023

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner. We’re mere weeks away from that wonderful time of the year when we remember the birth of Jesus Christ (we know it’s not the ACTUAL date of Christ).

In all the holiday hubbub, we can forget to continue developing ourselves. From the Christmas parties to the buying of presents to the trips we all take, our personal development can be left behind.

Let’s not let that happen this year.

As is customary, my last post for the month will be a list of great leadership books to consider reading. These books will not only help you become a better leader, they will make you think differently.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Marvels

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Many people have said the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in decline since the amazing Avengers: Endgame movie. While there haven’t been as many great movies since that film, Marvel still has had some winners.

Having previously seen Captain Marvel and not being a fan, I wasn’t too excited about their latest film, The Marvels. The Marvels continues the story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau/Photon (Yeyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). The trio all have light-based powers that get entangled thanks to a new threat.

For those of you who haven’t watched Captain Marvel or the Ms. Marvel Disney Plus series, you may come away a little lost. This movie picks up after both of these, and they are crucial to understanding what is happening. However, I think you can enjoy this movie even without the backstory from those two entries.
