8 Time Management Strategies To Improve Productivity

Time management is important. When we fail to manage our time, we let priorities that are not our own invade our lives.

That’s why you have to take control of your time. You have to manage it well. Just like your money, you have to tell your time where it will go.

Do you want to feel like you’ve got control of your time again? Do you want to get more things done in less time? Then it’s time to kick those poor time management habits to the curb.

8 Time Management Strategies To Improve Productivity

1. Calendarize your priorities:

If we don’t know our priorities, anything could be a priority. This is why you have to decide what’s a priority and what’s not. Once you’ve decided on your priorities, schedule them. You can schedule everything from regular workout routines to date nights with your spouse to personal development.

2. Be a Pomodoro master:

The Pomodoro Technique forces you to break down your tasks into smaller, bite-sized portions of 25-minute work intervals. You work hard for those 25 minutes and then take a short break before returning to a task.

3. Cut out multitasking:

Everyone loves to think they’re good at multitasking. The truth is far too many of us can’t switch between tasks quickly enough to make multitasking effective. Instead, focus on one task at a time. Complete the task and then move on to the next one.

4. Use technology:

Technology is a wonderful tool. There are plenty of apps that can help you take back control of your time. Here are a few options you may want to consider using –

  • Todoist
  • TimeFree
  • Trello
  • Remember The Milk

You can also use your telephone’s regular calendar app to manage your calendar. Technology isn’t the enemy. Technology can be your friend!

5. Create a routine:

For many of us, we see routine as a negative. We get stuck in a rut and can’t get out. That’s not the kind of routine I’m talking about here. Instead, create routines that help you get things done. A running routine can help you control yourself to get out on the trail regularly, a driving routine enables you to arrive at the office on time, and a nightly routine can help you prepare well for the coming day.

6. Batch like tasks together:

There are some tasks that are so similar you can batch them together. Don’t be afraid to batch, batch, batch. You’ll find yourself getting more done in a shorter amount of time.

7. Limit social media time:

Social media, whether it’s Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, or another social media channel, can be addicting. Before you know it, you’re doom-scrolling for hours. Set time limits and guidelines for your social media usage.

8. Find when you work best:

A lot of content has been written about the best time to work. You’ll hear many experts claim that the earlier you get up, the more you can get done. That’s not always the truth. There are people who are morning people and then there are the night owls. Find the times you work best and do your best work during those times.
