What’s Your Dream?

My wife and I recently attended an event held by the Muskegon Area Rental Association (MARA). Ratan Khatri was speaking at the event. We’d connected on Facebook, and when I saw this opportunity, I asked my wife to go. We had been interested in investing in real estate, and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to dip our feet into the waters.

At the MARA event, we heard from a long-time real estate investor. He’s invested in multiple real estate deals and knew his stuff. His presentation was geared toward the beginner investor, which was the perfect event for us!

But one thing stood out to me. A question Ratan asked:

What’s your dream for your real estate investments?

What’s Your Dream?

Ratan’s question got me thinking… I need to ask this question in all areas of my life. What’s my dream for:

  • My marriage
  • My family
  • My business
  • My relationships
  • My wealth
  • My health
  • My faith
  • My career
  • My whatever else there is…

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
-Eleanor Roosevelt

What happens when you begin to dream about the situations and course of your life? You start to think about the amazing things that could happen. You begin to piece together a pathway to your future.

Our dreams aren’t there to be a fantasy getaway. Our dreams are there to help us understand where we want to go. Imagine you began to have dreams for your family’s future, how you spend your wealth, or what you do for a career. You might weave a dream like this:

My family is a safe, secure place to grow and be who God created us to be. We regularly share our dreams with one another. We develop and find ourselves starting new ventures regularly. We’ve been able to save, invest, and grow our financial wealth. This allows us to share generously with others. We invest not only in growing our wealth but in the futures of those we care about. We’re able to give freely and without regret. My career is something I love to do. It brings me great joy. I am able to help others because of my job, and I find myself constantly stretched and growing because of this.

At first, your dreams may sound out of touch, impossible to reach, or pure fantasy. Yet, as you write out your dreams for the important areas of your life, you can create a pathway to achieve those dreams.

These pathways are how your dreams propel you forward. You have a vivid picture of where you want to go. You’re able to create a roadmap to get there.

But don’t stop there…

Share Your Dream

Many people stop at the dreaming part. Even more stop at the roadmap of their dreams. I want you to take your dreams a step further.

Share your dreams.

Be open and willing to share your dreams with those around you. At the MARA meetup, multiple individuals approached us to discover who we are, what we did, and what our dreams are.

As we shared our misshapen, unformed dreams, these people began to step up to offer their insights and wisdom into what we could do. They told us what they had done to get where they were and offered to let us reach out to them for free advice.

By sharing your dream, you not only get to verbalize what you want to do, but you also get to invite and have others invite you along on the path.

Know your dream. Share your dream. Reach your dream.
