Catalyst Atlanta 2013 Recap

I returned from the Catalyst Atlanta Conference over the weekend. I can’t believe it’s done already.

My time there was a whirlwind. I was able to attend the Catalyst Lab sessions on Wednesday and then attend two days worth of great leadership content.

This year the theme of the conference was KNOWN.

Identity

Calling

Legacy

How are you known?

These three items were the core of the conference. What are we known as. What are we known by. What are we known for.

When you combine these three pieces, you are known. And known well.

What I Learned At Catalyst

You may be wondering what I learned during my time at Catalyst. Honestly, it was a lot. Almost to the point of overwhelm.

Catalyst Atlanta 2013 Andy Stanley Final Session

Note: These are my notes from the Catalyst Conference. These are what you’d see if you were to look into my notebook as I’m writing them done. Read and enjoy what Catalyst has to offer.

andy-stanleyCatalyst has a habit of having Andy Stanley open and close their conference. This is the final session of Catalyst Atlanta 2013. And, once again, Andy Stanley is presenting.

Having been to Catalyst in the past, I know Andy is going to bring it. So let’s get at it.

He wanted us to thank all of those that have helped with the conference. The behind the scenes guys, the volunteers, the video and sound guys. Great sign of a leader.

The point is to make it so a fifth grader can understand it.

He has to make things simple so he can understand them. This carries over to everyone else as well. You’ve got to make it simple enough so others can understand what is being presented.

Catalyst Atlanta 2013 Jud Wilhite Notes

Note: These are rough notes from my time at Catalyst. These are what you would see in my notebook if I were writing them down there.

How our identity can impact the calling of our lives.

Numbers 11:11

Everybody loves you until you lead. The bullets start flying, dirt gets drummed up, and you’ll have a Moses moment.

Hosea 3

We meet the prophet Hosea who is challenged to do something no one else has ever been challenged to do before. To marry a prostitute.

An illustration of how God loves his people. Not just share the message but to experience the emotions.

Wife keeps having illegitimate children and relations with other men.

Catalyst Atlanta 2013 Cory Booker Notes

Note: These are notes from the Catalyst Conference live and unedited. Enjoy learning as I’m learning!

Don’t get so obsessed with position or job you’ll have. Purpose is more important than position.

To have the courage to confront fear was hard.

His dream was to be Geoffrey Canada. Never would have guessed he would have been in politics.

Authenticity is one of the greatest challenges of life.

We were born to standout.

There’s enough carbon copies in the world. Stay true to yourself.

He wanted to get experience doing what he wanted to do, not what everyone told him to do.

How do you maintain authenticity

Love makes us large. While it’s important to make wise choices and security, at the same time we can’t stop being risk takers.
