Bible Reflection: Be A Barnabas Leader

Youth pastor Sean Nelson recently preached a fantastic sermon to our church youth group. He shared the story of Barnabas, a man who is referred to as a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith (Acts 11:24).

The message stuck with me for multiple reasons. First and foremost, Barnabas’s life exemplified what a Christian leader’s life should look like.

Sean shared four characteristics of Barnabas. For each additional characteristic, I nodded my head and thought these are characteristics every leader should strive for.

I want to encourage you to be a Barnabas leader in this post.

Trust is Key: What Successful Leaders Do to Build Trust with Their Teams

Have you ever worked for a leader or organization you didn’t trust? I have. It’s not fun.

You’re constantly worried about your position in the organization. You wonder if your boss or owner will stab you in the back, leaving you without a job. You may even question your sanity because your boss has made you doubt yourself.

I’ve had that happen. It was all due to a lack of trust.

I don’t want that to happen to you… or the people you lead.

An organization that builds trust is an unstoppable force. The leader rallies behind the people. The people rally behind the leader.

Both know they have each other’s backs and can be trusted. It’s a magical situation.

It is not a situation that is easily created. You will have to work on building trust with your teams.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Kandahar

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Kandahar is an intense film involving CIA agent Tom Harris (Gerard Butler) and his translator Mo (Navid Negahban) as they flee hostile territory after their secret cover is blown. Their journey exposes hidden truths, dangerous allies, and former friends.

I was glued to my seat as I watched Kandahar. Maybe it’s how Gerard Butler plays military roles or the intrigue of a spy mission gone wrong. Perhaps it’s that the movie was loosely based on the Snowden leaks in 2013. Either way, the story was enjoyable, relevant, and entertaining.

As always, there’s more to the story than what’s on the surface. Every movie has Reel Leadership lessons hidden within.

In the latest Reel Leadership article, we dig into the leadership lessons in Kandahar.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From John Wick: Chapter 4

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book. And don’t miss out on my Leadership Lessons From John Wick ebook on Amazon.

It’s been a long four years since John Wick: Chapter 3 was released. We’ve faced a pandemic together. John Wick: Chapter 4 was delayed. We know it was supposed to be a celebration of Keanu Reeves. May 21st, 2021 would have seen the release of The Matrix 4 and John Wick: Chapter 4 on the same day. Sadly, this wasn’t the case, and we had to wait quite some time before Chapter 4 of John Wick was released.

That happened recently. Most of us weren’t disappointed.

John Wick: Chapter 4 brings back the character Reeves had made popular. The action movie is once again packed with guns, violence, and extreme action.
