How To Live Out Your Faith In The Workplace

Navigating the somewhat tricky landscape of faith and business can be scary. You may have heard of cases such as Jack Phillips, the Christian baker in Colorado who refused to bake a cake for a homosexual couple, or Joel Dahl, the owner of Dahled Up Construction in Oregon, who was sued for hosting a Bible study during working hours.

These cases are scary. They can make a Christian scared to share their faith or even make the acknowledgment of being a Christian.

But, as a believer, Christians are called to share their faith. We are not called to shirk this responsibility for fear of being persecuted. That’s not what being a Christian is all about.

Yet, more and more Christians are shying away from sharing their faith. It’s because of stories like Jack and Joel’s that have made Christians hide their candles under a bushel (no, we’re not supposed to do this!). A Book Review And Application Of Ryan Hall's Book Run The Mile You're In

Playing the comparison game is an easy thing to do. We see other leaders, bloggers, and thought giants running alongside us and we believe we should be where they are.

Looking at what everyone else is doing, we take our eyes off of what we were meant to do. This wrong focus takes us off course. We lose our passion for our vision. And we begin to feel like we’re not doing as much as we should.

This is the wrong mindset to have. We cannot compare ourselves to others are doing or have done. We can only focus on the mile we’re in.

Reading Run The Mile You’re In by Ryan Hall, the fastest American half marathoner, opened my eyes to some of the recent struggles I’ve been having. I’ve watched friends of mine go on to start exploding businesses, talk around the world, and have a “larger” impact than I have had and it has gotten on my nerves.  Read more...

Finding Yourself For The First Time

We try to work on ourselves all the time. Trying to improve our knowledge. Trying to make our marriages better. And trying to make ourselves better leaders or employees.

We work, work, work on ourselves… Yet, the sad reality is, so few of us know who we truly are.

You have to take time to find yourself

We work on the person we believe we are. We fail to work on the person we are.

This trying to improve upon the mythical image we have of ourselves often drives us to depression, frustration, and regret. We work on something that we are not or are not yet and we struggle to make sense of why things aren’t working.

Our methods for improving ourselves aren’t working because we’re not working on the right person. We’re working on something that’s not real or true.

While many churches know this, they struggle with engaging and keeping youth in their church. The church has seen far too many young people step away from the church and faith.

Leadership Quotes From Stan Lee

On Monday, November 13th, 2018 the world lost a giant in the comic and entertainment world. Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95. The world will feel the loss of this pioneering leader for years to come.

I’m still trying to process what Stan Lee’s death means. He is, after all, the co-creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, the X-Men, and many other Marvel superheroes.

His creations have brought delight to the hearts and minds of many around the world, including mine. I still have fond memories of reading his creations. In fact, I still read many of the comic book lines he helped create.
