22 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From The Fate Of The Furious

A Reel Leadership Article

My mind is still trying to comprehend how there are now 8 Fast and the Furious movies. It seems like yesterday I was leaving the Cinema Carousel after watching the first The Fast And The Furious movie in 2001.

I was driving my 5-speed manual 1994 GMC Sonoma. Revving the engine and trying to feel like I was one of the characters from The Fast And The Furious. Alas, I never was and never will be but the thought still lingers.

After watching any of The Fast And The Furious movies, I still get the urge to do a burnout or get into a police chase. That’s just how these movies make you feel.

Take Five Everyday

Our days are constantly filled with activity. Looking at our calendars, we see our days are already penciled in.

It’s hard to find time to get everything finished. It’s hard to find time to breathe on some days.

We feel overwhelmed with everything going on.

Continue to encourage people

So what I’m going to tell you will seem difficult to process. You may even push back against this little piece of advice.

Every day I want you to take five minutes out of your day and write a note of appreciation to someone in your organization or life that has made an impact.

What 5 Minutes Can Do

There are so many awesome people in your organization that go unnoticed. They’re left behind and don’t get the recognition they deserve.

By setting aside 5 minutes every day (and most days won’t require this much time), you can begin to show your team that you appreciate them.

The Best Time To Plant A Tree

An ancient Chinese proverb tells us that the best time to plant a tree was 20 ago. The second best time to plant a tree is now.

Such wise words that have carried through time. Yet we disregard this piece of knowledge time and again.

It's never too late to learn

How many times have you said: Ughh… I should have studied harder in school? Or I wish I would have learned how to play guitar when I was younger?

We’ve all got hobbies we wish we would have pursued years ago. If we had, we might have become talented in our pursuit.

But we didn’t. We can’t go back in time and change the fact we didn’t pursue something we love. We can change something else…

The Best Time Was Years Ago. The New Best Time Is Now

Whether it’s a hobby you failed to pursue or training in your chosen field, you’re older than you have ever been. You have the knowledge that you have. And you can’t change that.

64 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Marvel’s Iron Fist

A Reel Leadership Article

Danny Rand (portrayed by Finn Jones, known for his role on Game Of Thrones as Loras Tyrell), the Iron Fist and last Marvel Defender to get his own original Netflix series, burst onto the small screen laden with controversy. Iron First was criticized for the accurate portrayal of Danny Rand as a rich white man (which his comic book counterpart was). Critics also hurled negative reviews towards the new series as boring.

After watching Iron Fist, I’m still confused over the criticisms. Iron Fist’s first season (and hopefully not last) on Netflix was enjoyable. The pacing was much better than Jessica Jones and I couldn’t wait to watch the next episode.

The cast of Iron Fist was also racially diverse. From Colleen Wing (played by Jessica Henwick, also from Game Of Thrones) to the return of Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson reprised her role from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage), there was a lot of diversity in the supposedly whitewashed Iron Fist.
