What Is Catalyst Conference?

If you’ve read my blog for any period of time, you may have seen me mention Catalyst and the impactful events they’ve put on. I’ve attended the last 5 and live blogged the previous 2.

Leadership Insights: Interview With Brad Lomenick

Recently, I had the pleasure of connecting with Brad Lomenick. He’s the Grand Poobah, as his podcast partner Ken Coleman calls him, of the Catalyst Leadership Conference.

Brad’s work has included 5 years at Life@Work Magazine and management consulting with Cornerstone Group. He’s also ridden horses for a living in Colorado. This man has a wide berth of experience. He’s also the author of the soon to be released book The Catalyst Leader.

What Makes A Leader?

Everyone asks this at one point or another in their life. What makes a leader? Am I able to be a leader?

The answer? It’s a resounding YES!

However, it’s not easy. It’s going to require a lot. You’ll face challenges that you’ve never faced and never wanted to see.

Those challenges are what makes a leader.

During my time at Catalyst East, Andy Stanley gave a talk on what makes a leader. I’m going to break it down for you and share my insights from this talk.

Your Responses

For every situation we face, we have a reaction. Positive, negative, indifferent, etc..

Your responses are what makes you a leader.

If you respond poorly to a situation your leadership could be called into question. Respond positively and others will have a more favorable view of you.  Read more...

Discovering Your Leadership Potential

One thing I truly believe is that everyone has leadership potential.

It’s not something you either have or don’t have. It’s a skill you can develop and discover along this journey of life.

Not everyone begins as a natural born leader. The good news is you’re able to develop and hone your leadership potential as you walk the path of a leader.

We find ourselves in various leadership positions without asking to be placed into the role.

It may be the day you find out you’re going to be a father. Or the time you see someone stranded along the road and decide to take action to help them. Or it may be when you’re promoted to the position of leadership for a job well done.  Read more...

Catalyst Conference East 2011 Atlanta, GA

Today our youth pastor, two friends, my wife and I will be leaving for Catalyst East. Catalyst is a leadership conference for young leaders to join together for worship, learn about leadership, and to generate a tremendous amount of energy. It’s been likened to Acquire The Fire or Dare 2 Share for adult leaders. It’s looking to be an awesome event.

The theme of this years conference is: Be Present. We’re going to be encouraged to give our full attention to the things at hand, to pay attention to those in front of us, and to take action where we are. This is a message we need today as we’re in a world of constant distractions.  Read more...
