5 Questions To Ask During A Crisis Like COVID-19

Times of crisis are perfect times to use the power of questions.

Questions can bring clarity. Especially if the questions are laser-focused and help you cut to the heart of the matter.

Discovering the right questions to ask can be a bit more difficult than the actual asking of the question. That’s why we have Google and the internets and this blog.

Today, I’m going to look at 5 questions to ask during a crisis. These will help you focus on what needs to be done and how to do it.

5 Questions To Ask During A Crisis Like COVID-19

Question #1: What do I do NEXT?

A crisis hits and it feels like all hell has broken loose. Sometimes it has.

This feeling of helplessness can paralyze those in leadership. That’s why we must ask question #1: What do I do next?

What Is God Trying To Tell Leaders During A Crisis?

These are trying times. Your business may be shut down. You may be on unemployment or looking for a new employer. Or you may still have your position but it sure looks different.

When a crisis hits, things change. And leaders are left there wondering what is going on.

I believe God is trying to tell leaders something. We can get so caught up in our ways that we forget there is more to our lives than work, productivity, and money.

The world tells us to pursue wealth, fame, efficiency.

None of those are bad, in and of themselves. They do become bad when they are what we’re pursuing.

In this time of sheltering-at-home, I’ve prayed and tried to figure out what God is telling me. I think I’m gaining clarity.

7 Scriptures To Bring Hope During A Crisis

When a crisis hits, fear often comes with it. People are scared for their jobs and their health. They believe their way of living will change forever.

Those things may be in danger during a crisis. And it’s okay to be scared. Yet, there is hope out there.

We can… No, we will get through this crisis and others.

In times of crisis, I love going to the word of God. In scripture, there is hope and joy and a longing that is revealed.

I want to take a look at 7 pieces of scriptures that will bring hope during a crisis.

7 Scriptures To Bring Hope During A Crisis

1. Hebrews 10:23 – Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.

When we believe in Jesus Christ, we are believing into the hope of eternal life, sanctification, and the overwhelming love Jesus Christ brings to us. During times of crisis, we can lose sight of this hope.

Gaining Clarity Through Crisis

I’ve talked with many different leaders about the year 2020. Many of those leaders said they wanted this year to be a year of clarity.

They saw 2020 and thought of 20/20 vision. 20/20 vision is when you have perfect eyesight. It can’t get any better than that.

Then, the COVID-19 crisis hit. The idea of perfect vision during this time has gone out the window…

Or has it?!?

What Crises Bring

I love what I’m seeing coming out of the COVID-19 crisis. There are so many good things happening in and around us it blows my mind. It also makes my heart sing.

More than that, I think we’re seeing something else happen throughout this crisis.

The COVID-19 crisis is bringing better clarity. People are starting to see what truly matters. They’re finding out life doesn’t have to revolve around work.

Crises do bring clarity.

The Coronavirus has shown us how quickly businesses can be shut down. Government mandates can come quickly. They can effectively make your business grind to a halt. If you’re not prepared.

You’ve probably chosen to send your team home to work remotely during a crisis. They have their laptops, a VPN connection, and access to their emails.

You may think you’re done supporting your team through the crisis. You’d be wrong. You have to do so much more than provide tools to keep them working during a crisis.
