Setting The Example

Leaderships is influence. We must be able to inspire others to action.

There are leaders out there who constantly wonder what they can do to garner this action.

What must they do to see their teams respond? What must be said to see action? What must be done for results?

Do what needs to be done, set the example

In my experience, there’s one thing that will inspire others to take action. To go the extra mile. To bleed for the company.

What is this one thing leaders can do? It’s setting the example.

What Does It Mean To Set The Example?

Guys, this is fairly easy to figure out. Realizing what setting the example is doesn’t take a lot of work.

Setting the example means showing your team what needs to be done. In all you do, show off the traits of a model employee.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Eternals

A Reel Leadership Article

The Eternals is the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stars Angelina Jolie as Thena, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Lauden Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, and Ma Dong-seok as Gilgamesh.

I really had no history of the Eternals going into the film. Leaving the film, I still felt like I had no connection or history of these characters. The movie fell flat, in my opinion. If you do want to learn more about the Eternals, I suggest picking up the complete Jack Kirby collection on Amazon.

Line up of the Eternals characters

However, Eternals does open the Marvel Cinematic Universe to multiple characters that weren’t major players in the film. This was the most exciting part of Eternals to me: The new characters including the voice of a dhampir.

What Works For You

As any athlete will tell you, they try to find the best nutritional plan to get the best results they can. They will also tell you they bump up their mental game before a game, match, or race.

A few weeks ago, I ran my most recent half marathon at the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon.

I was mentally prepared for this half marathon to be one of my worst. Why? Because my game was off. What happened wasn’t planned.

So, what happened? What didn’t I do right?

  • My training was haphazard. Training runs were regular but not according to plan.
  • My training pace had been a good 30-60 slower than race pace. Some runs were even 2-3 minutes per mile slower.
  • My pre-race meal was not at all what would be recommended. Greasy, heavy, unhealthy.

What Are Your Failures?

When you think of your failures, do you cringe with regret? Do you squeal with glee? Do you hide your head in shame?

Failures often give us an inferiority complex. They make us think we’re less than, a loser, or finished. Failures bring us down.

But should they? Should failure make you feel horrible?

I think not.

The Failures Of Famous People

I was thinking about my personal failures. There’s many. Just ask my wife.

Yet, I want to think about the failures of famous people. These are people you may have heard of before. You may also be shocked to hear that they’ve experienced failures too. Some of their failures have been extremely frustrating or challenging. Maybe even more than yours!

Let’s take a look at the failures of 4 famous people.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Spy Kids

A Reel Leadership Article

It’s hard to believe the movie Spy Kids is 20 years old. It’s a fun children’s movie with plenty of potential.

We see that potential in all of the sequels and semi-spin-off movies. Not only did director Robert Rodriguez produce four Spy Kids films, he also spun off the Machete (Danny Trejo) character into two movies. It’s also said that all of the Spy Kids movies are in the same universe as the other Rodriguez films. Crazy?!?

Spy Kids tells the story of the Cortez family. The parents, Gregorio (Antonio Banderas) and Ingrid (Carla Gugino), appear to be boring. Or so their children believe. However, Gregorio and Ingrid have a secret. They are spies!

Cast of Spy Kids striking a pose

Their children, Juni (Daryl Sabara) and Carmen (Alex PenaVega), come across as spoiled brats. They’re nagging at each other. They’re lying to their parents. It’s a nightmare!
