Better Days Ahead

Can I tell you the truth today? The last couple of weeks have been hard.

I had a new job opportunity fell through. My brother-in-law passed away. One of our cars was in a wreck.

Bad things seemed to keep piling on. One thing after the other.

Yet there was one thing I knew I could count on. Better days are ahead.

Better Days Ahead

We all go through seasons where our lives seem out of control. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Sometimes we don’t WANT to know what tomorrow will bring.

The days have been so bad. So hard. It seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

I want to encourage you today. There is hope. There are better days ahead.

Maybe not tomorrow. Maybe not the next day. But keep placing one foot in front of the other.

Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Star Wars: The Last Jedi

A Reel Leadership Article

Star Wars: The Last Jedi had to be one of my most anticipated movies of the year. Having seen Star Wars: Rogue One and Star Wars: The Force Awakens in recent years, my hopes were extremely high for an amazing new Star Wars movie.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi didn’t disappoint me. The Last Jedi tells the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) pursuing Luke Skywalker (Mark Hammill) to train her in the Jedi ways. Luke is a broken man after Kylo Ren/Ben Solo (Adam Driver) destroyed the Jedi training center Luke had built and killed most of the Jedi students. Luke didn’t want to take on another apprentice for fear he would rise up another dark Jedi. The Last Jedi also tells the story of the Rebel Alliance as they flee from The First Order, a newly formed military power similar to The Empire.

Stop Living In The Past

It's okay to visit but not live there

I’m a huge proponent of using your past to help propel you towards your future. You have a long list of victories you’ve accomplished in your past.

From the first client you landed for your organization to the process improvement you suggested which saved the business millions of dollars to helping out on the shop floor so production could keep going. There are so many great victories in your past. And it is okay to revisit your victories.

Yet you can’t live there. You can’t live in the past. Not in your victories and ESPECIALLY not in your defeats.

I’ve recently experienced a bout of living in the past. It’s the recent past but the past none the less…

Pam and I recently purchased a used Kia Soul. We really liked the look and feel of the vehicle. And the price seemed great at the time.

How To Overcome Self-Doubt

Your mind is lying to you...

One of the things I’ve battled with throughout my life has been self-doubt. I doubt that I’m good enough. I doubt people like me. And I doubt I make an impact on the world.

No one has told me any of those things. Yet my mind replays those thoughts on an almost daily basis.

Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Die Hard

A Reel Leadership Christmas Throwback Article

I usually start the Christmas season off by watching my favorite Christmas movie on Black Friday or that Saturday. This year, I postponed it but was able to get around to watching what I consider to be one of the best Christmas movies out there.

If you haven’t guessed, my favorite Christmas movie is Die Hard. Die Hard is the film adaption of the Roderick Thorp novel Nothing Lasts Forever. Die Hard tells the story of the New York cop John McClane (Bruce Willis). John flies to Las Angeles to attend a Christmas party with his estranged wife Holly Gennaro McClane (Bonnie Bedelia) in the extravagant Nakatomi Plaza.

Leadership lessons in Die Hard

Things quickly go from good to bad to worse as John and Holly’s conversation becomes unproductive and terrorists storm the Plaza.

Die Hard is filled with action and violence. There’s a lot of foul language (it’s bad but the movie is SOOOO good). And plenty of leadership lessons in Die Hard.
