6 Ways Leaders Embrace Change

I’ve shared a lot about change. You know change is going to happen. You know you have to be okay with change happening…

But one thing I haven’t shared a lot about is what you can do, as a leader, about change. We’re going to lot at the things a leader can do to embrace change.

These are habits and actions that will help you overcome your resistance to change and to grow your organization. You won’t be left holding the change basket anymore. You’ll be the one sprinkling change like a fairy.

6 Ways Leaders Embrace Change

1. Be A Listener:

One of the fastest ways to become a leader who embraces change is to become a listener. As you practice the art of listening, you begin to hear things you used to miss.

How To Create An Affirming Culture

When you first hear about an affirming culture, you may think the culture will be weak or timid. You may think your organization doesn’t need to affirm the abilities of your team.

If this is your line of thinking, you would be incorrect. Your team needs to be affirmed. You need to tell your team “Good job on completing the project ahead of time” or “You know, you’ve been on time for a full year. You are awesome.”

What Is Affirmation?

You may come from a culture where affirmation isn’t common. You may not even know what affirmation is.

If you’re wondering what affirmation is, wonder no more. Affirmation is the act of validating or confirming a person or their actions.

Affirmation isn’t pandering to someone. Instead, it is recognizing what they’re doing or who they are and choosing to say something positive.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Ocean’s 8

A Reel Leadership Article

There have been many classic heist films in the history of cinema. Heat, The Bank Job, Baby Driver, Ocean’s 11 and 12 (fun little fact, I viewed Ocean’s 12 at my bachelor party oh so many years ago), and Bonnie And Clyde to name a few.

Heist films are all about a team pulling off an impossible job. They rob a bank, steal a bunch of cars, or knock over a casino. You get to experience the thoughts and actions of a team as they go for the score of a lifetime.

Leadership lessons in Ocean's 8

Ocean’s 8 continues in this vein.

Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) is finally released from prison after five years, eight months, and 12 days for her part in a previous Ocean robbery. Upon her release, she begins to implement a scheme she’s been devising for all those years behind bars.

6 Ways To Become A More Positive Leader

No one like a Debbie Downer leader. By being negative, you’re bringing down everyone else. You don’t want this.

It’s not only bad for morale, it’s bad for you. You lose your authority. You lose respect. And you lose the right to hold people accountable when THEY complain (how dare they, right?!?).

That’s why we need to learn how to become more positive…

6 Ways To Become More Positive

  1. Feed your positivity:

Find ways to take in positive content. Whether that’s through great books, close relationships, or inspiring music.

The more you’re seeking out positive inputs, the more positivity you’re going to exude.

10 Ways To Become An Approachable Leader

We’ve all been subject to the leader who wasn’t approachable. And that made our jobs miserable.

That’s why we’ve got to be aware of what makes a leader approachable. We’ve also got to implement the actions of approachable leaders.

What Is An Approachable Leader?

This is a million dollar question. What makes a leader approachable? What does an approachable leader do?

Approachable leaders take a different kind of approach to leadership than those concerned about appearance or fame. They know leadership goes deeper than the surface.

Approachable leaders are leaders you feel comfortable going to. This type of leader makes you realize he is there for you. He’s ready to listen and hear you out.

This is what an approachable leader is.
