Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Antboy

This past weekend was a busy one (and I’m not just saying that!) The annual Unity Christian Music Festival was Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I ran a half-marathon distance. And there was the True Believers Fest by Marquis Comics where comic fans, wrestlers, and more came together. While it was a great weekend, it put a damper on my movie watching and I was unable to get out to the theater.

The sad part is, there are some great movies in the theater that haven’t received the Reel Leadership treatment. Movies like Mission Impossible: Fallout, Christopher Robin, and The Meg.

So, I browsed Netflix and found a film that had peaked my curiosity before. It looked silly and fun. That movie? Antboy.

Antboy tells the story of a 12-year old boy Pelle Nøhrmann (Oscar Dietz). He was bitten by a super-ant and given superpowers, much like Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and became Spider-Man.

6 Things Leaders Should Be Thankful For Everyday

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Because of this, I wanted to reflect on 6 things leaders should be thankful for on Thanksgiving and every other day.

There’s a lot of pain that comes with leadership. Struggles no one else ever sees. Betrayals by coworkers and friends. Business failures. And so much more.

Be thankful as a leader

Yet there are also things leaders should be thankful for. Let’s take a look at these today.

6 Things Leaders Should Be Thankful For Everyday

1. Success:

Yes, be thankful for your successes. Your successes mean you’re having an impact on the world around you.

Don’t hide your successes. Celebrate your successes and be thankful for them.

2. Failure:

Hold up… You mean leaders should be thankful for failures? Oh yeah, leaders need to be thankful for failure.

Failure is an opportunity to learn and grow. You can examine your failures and see why they didn’t succeed.

3 More Reasons Your Leadership Is Ineffective

I’ve never met a leader who says he longs to be forgotten. He wants to be remembered. And what does he want to be remembered for? Every leader wants to be remembered for being effective.

Yet there are so many leaders who struggle with being effective.

They flounder trying to get their teams to follow them. They lack the ability to move their vision forward. And they never get anything done.

But what causes this leadership ineffectiveness? Previously, I’d shared 5 reasons your leadership is ineffective. Those 5 reasons were:

You fail to listen to your team

You fail to do what you say

You fail to cast a clear vision

You fail to influence

You fail to communicate clearly

These reasons are still valid for ineffective leadership. Lack of communication, listening, follow through, vision casting, and influence impacts leadership negatively. However, there are more reasons why your leadership is ineffective.
