Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Expend4bles (The Expendables 4)

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

The Expendables team returns in their fourth outing. As usual, we see the regular gang Barney (Sylvester Stallone), Too Road (Randy Couture), Gunner (Dolph Lundgreen), and Christmas (Jason Statham). The rowdy bunch is joined by Easy Day (50 Cent), Gina (Megan Fox), Galan (Jacob Scipio), and Lash (Levy Tran). These team members make up a rollicking good time as they have to track down the biggest threat the team of Expendables has ever faced.

Expend4bles focuses on a new villain, Rahmat (Iko Uwais). His mission is to collect pieces of a nuclear bomb and start World War 3 (we’ve all seen this before!).

But that’s okay. When we know what we’re getting into, we can have a lot of fun. As with any of the Expendables movies, you know what you’re getting into. Wacky, zany action from classic action stars, along with new ones.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Flash

Wait… Did you just see that blur go past us? Of course you didn’t; it was the Flash!

The Flash (Ezra Miller) is a speedster in the DC Comics and movie universe. He gained his superhuman speed from an accident at the Central City Police Department as he worked on a case. Lightning struck the chemicals he was sitting in front of and was dowsed in a chemical bath.

In the new Flash movie, the Flash, Barry Allen, still loses his mother, Nora (Maribel Verdú). He also loses his father, Henry Allen (Ron Livingston), when he is wrongly accused of killing Nora.

Everything that happens in the movie is a direct result of the murder of Barry’s mother. Barry decides to travel back in time to change what happened, to save his mother. Barry’s actions change the world he knows and the new worlds of others.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts

And the Transformers movie franchise continues to roll out. This past weekend, Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts debuted in theaters around the world. In this latest Transformers movie, we not only get Autobots, but the Maximals are also introduced to filmgoers.

I remember when Transformers: Beast Wars originally aired on television. I was upset. I didn’t believe they were real Transformers because they weren’t vehicles. They were a cheap knock-off putting Transformers into animals.

Eventually, I came to love the Beast Wars series. The story was well-done, the animation was top-notch, and spawned multiple off-shoots.

In Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts, Earth faces a significant threat. Unicron (Colman Domingo), a planet-sized Transformer, is searching for the Transwarp Key. This device would allow him to warp anywhere in space or time. It’s a powerful device. One that would cause the destruction of the universe.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 brings back the Guardians as we’ve known them with a few changes. We’re treated to an excellent ending for the original Guardians in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Those original Guardians are:

  • Peter Quill/Starlord (Chris Pratt)
  • Gamora (Zoe Saldana) – She’s different, but she’s Gamora
  • Nebula (Karen Gillan)
  • Groot (Vin Diesel)
  • Drax (Dave Bautista)
  • Mantis (Pom Klementieff)
  • Rocket The Raccoon (Bradley Cooper)
  • New edition Kraglin (Sean Gunn)
  • New edition Cosmo the Space Dog (Maria Bakalova)

This team makes a great ending and an even better new beginning for the team we’ve loved for two movies, several appearances, and one Christmas special.

I went into the movie expecting one thing. I got something completely different from the film. You will too.
