Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is an engaging animated film. Hailing from DC Comics, the film has the Green Lantern Corps’ home planet of Oa under attack. Hal Jordan (Nathan Fillion) prepares the new Green Lantern recruit Arisia (Elisabeth Moss) for the upcoming attack.

How Hal does this is interesting. Hal doesn’t send her to combat school, simulations, or anything like that. No, Hal recalls stories of the first Green Lantern and other Green Lanterns that have come before her.

She’s prepared for the upcoming battle by recalling history and what other Green Lanterns have done. 

This was a masterful way to share the history of the Green Lantern Corps, explain how things are done, and show viewers that there’s more than action for these DC heroes. It’s also a great way to teach the viewer impactful leadership lessons.   Read more...

DC Comics has long struggled with live-action movies. An area they shine in outside of their comics? The animated movies they release.

Their animated movies have been packed full of action, meaning, and style. They should continue to focus on it while developing their live-action films. They’re in good hands with James Gunn heading the new DC Cinematic Universe. Until that time, we get to enjoy the excellent animation they’re putting out.

In this Reel Leadership article, we’re looking at the 2012 animated film Justice League: Doom.

This weekend saw the release of the DC Comics movie Blue Beetle. Blue Beetle is a lesser-known comic book character along the lines of the character Booster Gold. Both of these characters are fun, interesting, and worth a movie. 

After watching Blue Beetle, I’m glad DC Comics decided to produce and release this film. It was a fun run through a character that doesn’t get enough love. 

There have been three Blue Beetles in the comic books. Dan Garrett was the original Blue Beetle. Ted Kord was the second. The third, and focus of the Blue Beetle movie, is Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña). Directed by Angela Manuel Soto and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the film pay homage to the first two Blue Beetles by mentioning them throughout the movie.  Read more...

Wait… Did you just see that blur go past us? Of course you didn’t; it was the Flash!

The Flash (Ezra Miller) is a speedster in the DC Comics and movie universe. He gained his superhuman speed from an accident at the Central City Police Department as he worked on a case. Lightning struck the chemicals he was sitting in front of and was dowsed in a chemical bath.

In the new Flash movie, the Flash, Barry Allen, still loses his mother, Nora (Maribel Verdú). He also loses his father, Henry Allen (Ron Livingston), when he is wrongly accused of killing Nora.

Everything that happens in the movie is a direct result of the murder of Barry’s mother. Barry decides to travel back in time to change what happened, to save his mother. Barry’s actions change the world he knows and the new worlds of others.  Read more...

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2019 film Shazam! opened recently. Shazam! Fury Of The Gods brings just as much fun to the theaters as the original film. The film continues Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) journey as the boy who says SHAZAM! and is turned into a superhero (Zachary Levi).

Critics have panned the movie. I think they don’t understand the point of film at times. Sure, Reel Leadership looks at the leadership aspect of movies, but movies can also entertain. They take us to a place we couldn’t go to before. Shazam! Fury Of The Gods brings us a lot of fun, laughs, and smiles throughout.

Go into the movie expecting to have fun, and you will. You can also go to the movie expecting to come out a better leader.  Read more...
