Thanksgiving weekend saw the release of the latest Walt Disney Animation Studios. That movie? The heartwarming Wish.

Written by Jennifer Lee, Allison Moore, and Chris Book and directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, Wish tells the story of the young Asha (Ariana DeBose). Asha is a precocious young woman who desires to be an apprentice to King Magnifico (Chris Pine). Little did she know how evil the king was.

Upon finding out, she’s disgraced. Kicked out of the palace. Sent on a new journey.

As she’s bemoaning the fact that the king is evil and stealing the dreams of his citizens, Asha wishes upon a star. This wish changes everything.

This story lends itself well to leadership principles, especially since you can see the negative path King Magnifico took. Let’s take a look at the leadership lessons in Wish!

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

It’s been 9 years since we visited the capital city of Panem, created by Suzanne Collins. In The Hunger Games, every year, there is a reaping (choosing of contestants) and The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a fight-to-the-death battle between the randomly chosen contestants of various districts. It’s a brutal way for the government to control the districts.

But The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes is different. We’re not at the 75th annual Hunger Games. We’re near the beginning, taking place during the 10th Hunger Games. The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes is a prequel to what has already come.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Marvels

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Many people have said the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in decline since the amazing Avengers: Endgame movie. While there haven’t been as many great movies since that film, Marvel still has had some winners.

Having previously seen Captain Marvel and not being a fan, I wasn’t too excited about their latest film, The Marvels. The Marvels continues the story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau/Photon (Yeyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). The trio all have light-based powers that get entangled thanks to a new threat.

For those of you who haven’t watched Captain Marvel or the Ms. Marvel Disney Plus series, you may come away a little lost. This movie picks up after both of these, and they are crucial to understanding what is happening. However, I think you can enjoy this movie even without the backstory from those two entries.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Appleseed

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Appleseed is a classic anime from 1988. Set in a futuristic city, police officer Dunan (Larissa Murray) and her cyborg partner Bularios (Bill Roberts) fight terrorism.

It’s a grim picture of the future that hasn’t come to be. There’s tension between cyborgs, humans, and terrorists.

It’s a mess. But it’s a good mess of a movie.

As always, there’s leadership to be found in these movies. Especially a classic such as Appleseed, which has spawned many sequels since its release over 30 years ago. Let’s dive into those leadership lessons.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Appleseed

1. Don’t make permanent choices for temporary problems:

Fleia (Anne Marie Zola) was the wife of police officer Karon (Alan Marriott). The movie opens with her freeing a caged bird. She held the bird in her hand before releasing the bird out of her window.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Five Nights At Freddy’s

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Who remembers Chuck E. Cheese or Showtime Pizza? These entertainment centers had anthropomorphic characters who entertained children while they dined on pizza or played arcade games. More than that, these two restaurants appear to be the inspiration for some of the characters in the Five Nights At Freddy’s video game and now a movie.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza resembles these pizza chains in an eery way. While Chuck E. Cheese and Showtime Pizza both had a creepy vibe to them, Five Nights At Freddy’s takes it to a whole new level.

What’s the premise behind Five Nights At Freddy’s movie? A down-on-his-luck man, Mike (Josh Hutcherson), is trying to find a job. He has to take care of his sister, Abby (Piper Rubio), after their mother passes away and their father leaves. He goes to a career counselor, Steve Raglan (Matthew Lillard), for a job placement. Steve recommends he try a night security position at the now-defunct Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
