Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Dumb Money

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

The weekend of September 30th, 2023, saw the release of Dumb Money by director Craig Gillespie and writers Lauren Schuker Blum, Rebecca Angelo, and Ben Mezrich. Dumb Money tells the story of Reddit user Keith Gill/Roaring Kitty (Paul Dano) in the WallStreetBets forum. Roaring Kitty is the one who flipped the script on Wall Street insiders.

He took a failing company stock, GameStop, and transformed it. GameStop stock went from $3 all the way up to $483. This became a true David vs. Goliath story as the little man found a way to turn the tide on Wall Street hedge fund managers.

A Reel Leadership Article

For many of us, there’s nothing better than a good summer action movie. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw gives you and I just that. A movie you can sit back, shut off, and enjoy from beginning to end.

Taking place after Fast & Furious 7, lawman Luke Hobbs (Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson) and criminal Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) are forced to join forces in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. The action is fast, the story is passable (especially for a summer movie), and it sets itself up for a sequel.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Upside

A Reel Leadership Article

The Upside, starring Kevin Hart as Dell Scott and Bryan Cranston as Phillip Lacasse, is a heart-warming tale. Based on the true story of Philippe Pozzo di Borgo and his life auxiliary Abdel Sellou, The Upside tells the story through the eyes of Phillip (instead of Phillippe) and Dell (instead of Abdel). The Upside is also a remake of the French film The Intouchables.

A little backstory: Phillip became a quadriplegic after a tragic paragliding accident. With his wife having passed away after a battle with cancer, Phillip wants to give up on life.

This is why he chooses to hire Dell as his life auxiliary. Phillip believed Dell wouldn’t have the capacity to keep him alive if he were to have another medical issue. As you watch The Upside, you discover Phillip was wrong. Dell gave Phillip the ability to live life again.
