Wait… Did you just see that blur go past us? Of course you didn’t; it was the Flash!

The Flash (Ezra Miller) is a speedster in the DC Comics and movie universe. He gained his superhuman speed from an accident at the Central City Police Department as he worked on a case. Lightning struck the chemicals he was sitting in front of and was dowsed in a chemical bath.

In the new Flash movie, the Flash, Barry Allen, still loses his mother, Nora (Maribel Verdú). He also loses his father, Henry Allen (Ron Livingston), when he is wrongly accused of killing Nora.

Everything that happens in the movie is a direct result of the murder of Barry’s mother. Barry decides to travel back in time to change what happened, to save his mother. Barry’s actions change the world he knows and the new worlds of others.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is blowing up the theaters. And opinions.

Many are hailing Across The Spider-Verse as a beautiful marvel of animated cinematography. Others are complaining there’s too much going on and the various styles clash with the movie.

I’m leaning towards Across The Spider-Verse being a grand entry into the new animated world of Spider-Man. The introduction of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) in the last film and now the introduction of so many other Spider-men and women. It’s a blast seeing new Spider characters introduced. A few are Spider-Punk (Daniel Kalyuua), Jessica Drew (Issa Rae), Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac), Pavitr Prabhakar/Spider-Man India (Karan Soni), Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider (Andy Samberg), Lego Spider-Man (Nic Novicki), Metro Spider-Man (Metro), Spectacular Spider-Man (Josh Keaton), and many others. Not only that, but we get the return of Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld).

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

I haven’t watched Power Rangers in quite some time but I have fond memories of the Fox television series from my youth. It was a crazy combination of US actors mixed with sequences from the Japanese series Super Sentai. I always considered it a Voltron knockoff but discovered that the live-action Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Japanese counterpart was released before the animated Voltron series.

My mind was blown.

Now, 30 years later, my mind is blown once again. Netflix released a short film to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the television series that changed weekday afternoons. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since American youth were introduced to these characters. They’ve gone through many generations, but one phrase stands true:

Once a ranger, always a ranger.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Chang Can Dunk

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Chang Can Dunk is a Disney+ exclusive movie about a young Asian-American teen who longs to get the girl, defeat the school bully, and maybe play some basketball. While geared toward the younger crowd, Chang Can Dunk is a fun experience.

Chang (Bloom Li) is a 5’8″ student in high school. His rival and former friend, Matt (Chase Liefeld, son of the legendary comic book artist and my good friend (Rob’s words on his WhatNot stream) Rob Liefeld), are at each other’s throats over basketball and a girl, Kristy (Zoe Renee). Their rivalry becomes real when Chang tells Matt that he will be able to dunk within ten weeks.

Bloom Li as Chang in Chang Can Dunk. Making a dunk.

This is a challenge. He’s short, not very good, and isn’t motivated to do much of anything. Throughout the movie, we’re reminded that Chang doesn’t stick with things.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

The critically acclaimed Black Panther movie starring Chadwick Boseman was released in 2018. Boseman was hailed as the quintessential Black Panther. Sadly, Boseman passed away on August 28th, 2020, from a battle with cancer.

His death put a kink in the planned Black Panther 2 movie, Wakanda Forever. He was set to continue holding the mantle of Black Panther. However, Marvel Studios had to change the storyline due to the passing of this great movie star.

While Boseman’s presence is missed in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, you can sense how much the producers, directors, and actors cared for their fallen star. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a love letter to Boseman. And a good one at that!
