Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle

A Reel Leadership Article

My thought going into Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle was “Do we really need another remake of a film?” The 1995 Jumanji starred Robin Williams as Alan Parrish (who gets a nod in the new Jumanji). Williams character was sucked into the world of Jumanji much like the characters in the new movie.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle tells the story of four students: Spencer (Alex Wolff), Bethany (Madison Iseman), Fridge (Ser’Darius Blain), and Martha (Morgan Turner) as they follow the same path as Alan Parrish. While in detention, these four characters discover an old video game system with a Jumanji cartridge already inserted into the console.

They turn on the system, choose their avatars, and are suddenly transported into the video game. Welcome to the jungle, gang!

Why Pokemon GO Will Be Good For Your Business

You’ve probably already heard about the latest smartphone app craze: Pokémon GO. In Pokémon GO, players use their smartphones to capture legendary Pokémon via a geo-location based app.

Released on July 6th, 2016, Pokémon GO has created quite the stir.

why your business needs to capitalize on Pokemon GO

What’s The Big Deal About Pokémon GO?

That’s the question everyone is asking. Why is this new Pokémon game so popular?

I have a few theories.

Pokémon GO plays on the nostalgia of those who grew up in the 90’s. Those who watched Pokémon growing up, want to try this new take on their favorite childhood cartoon.

Pokémon GO brings people together. The last couple of days have been crazy. Anywhere Pam and I walked, we ran into Pokémon GO players. Most weren’t alone. Pokémon GO players travel in packs and play together.

15 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Warcraft The Movie

A Reel Leadership Article

Warcraft is the latest video game to movie adaptation. The basis for the movie? Orcs invade the world of humans and chaos breaks out.

Having been a big gamer, I was excited to see the Warcraft movie. This adaptation brought feelings of nostalgia for my video game days.

With that, I know there are people who may be confused in seeing Warcraft. This movie is based on the original 1994 Warcraft video game, not the more recent World Of Warcraft MMORPG.

Going in with that expectation, Warcraft exceeded what I thought the movie was going to be.

So, let’s get to the leadership lessons from Warcraft.

WARNING: Warcraft spoilers ahead

1. Use what other leaders have left behind: As Warcraft begins, we see a warrior pick up the shield of a fallen soldier. He found something useful the other man had left behind and he began to use it.

Pam and I like to take in a good comedy every once in awhile. We also like to be reminded of the great things of our childhood.

That’s why we were excited to see the newest Adam Sandler movie Pixels.

Pixels movie teaches us leadership lessons

Having watched the previews, Pixels looked hilarious.

Going into Pixels, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would it be classic, humorous Adam Sandler a la Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, or Anger Management? Or would it be stupid humor such as Little Nicky or Grown Ups?

What it turned out to be was something in-between.

It also proved to provide insights into leadership, if you looked deep enough.

7 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Masters Of Doom

A Reel Leadership Article

Growing up, I was a major fan of video games. Whether it was the child-friendly Mario games or the bone-chilling game Doom. I loved video games.

When I heard there was a book about the makers of Doom, I quickly put it on my book reading list. With the help of Audible.com, the book rose to the top and I recently finished listening to the book.

Masters of Doom was the book written about the people who made Doom. They chronicled the rise of ID Software, what made them great, and what made them fall apart.

Wil Wheaton, of Star Trek fame, was the reader of the audio book. His presentation was perfect for a book such as this.

Wil brought the story to life and made me want to sit in my Ford truck listening to the story long after I arrived at my location.
