People Are Tired Of Fake

You’ve probably seen online thought leaders share about how they’re so authentic. About how they want to be real with you. How they want you to get to know them.

Why are they saying these things? Because they know people want real, authentic, true people. The problem is, many of these people aren’t being what they claim they are.

People need you to be real

Claiming you’re authentic is easy. Saying you’re real is super simple.

Being real is not quite as easy.

People Want Real… But They’re Not Getting It

Marketers have learned what people want. The people have spoken and they say they want someone who is real. Someone who is honest.

The problem is, finding someone online who is real and honest is hard. Putting on a facade and portraying what someone is looking for is easy.

This is why people have created customer avatars. These are the people they want to speak to… So they create a persona that speaks their language.  Read more...

Louie was always in trouble. That’s when his older brother, Pete, steps in and takes him under his wing. Pete trains Louie to become an Olympic runner.

When World War 2 happened, Louie had to give up his dreams of becoming an Olympic champion. He had a war to fight. He left his friends and families to fight against the looming threat.

The unthinkable happened when his plane was downed over the ocean. Louie spent 47 days adrift in a raft. When he was rescued from the raft, he was put into a Japanese POW camp where he and other soldiers were tortured by the maniacal Watanabe ‘The Bird’.

Through Colored Glasses addresses a leadership challenge identified in Proverbs 16:2: All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motivates are weighed by the Lord. The book is a fable about Leo Perkins, a man who desires to save his company but deep down he’s more worried about bruising his ego.

True Friendship Is Painful

Is there a sadder thing than a man who believes he has die-hard friends only to discover those friends really weren’t his friends?

People believe they have great friendships all the time. These so-called friends lap praise upon praise. They’re told they can do no wrong…

What is a true friend?

My question: Is that really a friendship? Or is it a recipe for disaster?

Real Friends Do This

Having people who tell you how great you are, feels good. Real good.

Our egos get a boost. We feel like we’re on cloud 9. We might be.

And real friends do give us compliments and encourage us. They tell us when we’re doing good. When we’re rocking it.

Real friends also do something else.

When we have true-blue friends, they know us well enough to call us out on the carpet.  Read more...
