Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Kin The Movie

Kin tells the story of Elijah Solinski (Myles Truitt), his ex-con brother Jimmy Solinski (Jack Reynor), and former stripper Milly (Zoe Kravitz). Eli (what Elijah goes by in Kin) and Jimmy are fleeing Taylor Balik (James Franco), a crime lord who Jimmy owes $60,000.

Leadership lessons from Kin

Also starring in Kin is Dennis Quaid as Hal Solinski, Jimmy’s father and Elijah’s stepdad. He plays a minor part in the movie and the movie largely focuses on the two brothers.

Toss in an alien weapon and a major road trip and you’ve got Kin. A fun sci-fi/action movie that will keep you guessing.

Kin starts off slow. Builds to a major crescendo. And leaves the audience with more questions than answers.

This isn’t necessarily bad. Kin was a movie I enjoyed. Pam found Kin so-so but agrees with me that there are plenty of leadership lessons in Kin.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Antboy

This past weekend was a busy one (and I’m not just saying that!) The annual Unity Christian Music Festival was Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I ran a half-marathon distance. And there was the True Believers Fest by Marquis Comics where comic fans, wrestlers, and more came together. While it was a great weekend, it put a damper on my movie watching and I was unable to get out to the theater.

The sad part is, there are some great movies in the theater that haven’t received the Reel Leadership treatment. Movies like Mission Impossible: Fallout, Christopher Robin, and The Meg.

So, I browsed Netflix and found a film that had peaked my curiosity before. It looked silly and fun. That movie? Antboy.

Antboy tells the story of a 12-year old boy Pelle Nøhrmann (Oscar Dietz). He was bitten by a super-ant and given superpowers, much like Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and became Spider-Man.  Read more...

There have been many classic heist films in the history of cinema. Heat, The Bank Job, Baby Driver, Ocean’s 11 and 12 (fun little fact, I viewed Ocean’s 12 at my bachelor party oh so many years ago), and Bonnie And Clyde to name a few.

Heist films are all about a team pulling off an impossible job. They rob a bank, steal a bunch of cars, or knock over a casino. You get to experience the thoughts and actions of a team as they go for the score of a lifetime.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Death Wish

I’ve often wondered what I would do if I was ever put into a situation like Bryan Mills from Taken or, now, Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) in the new Death Wish movie. Would I want to extract revenge for the pain brought upon me or the deaths I had to witness?

As a man, these questions often flood my mind. And I love watching movies explore this thought process. Death Wish tells the story of Paul Kersey, a doctor whose job it was was to save lives. Only to have his wife brutally murdered and his daughter shot and left in a coma.

What would you do? That’s the question Death Wish gets you thinking about.

And, if you’re intentional, it’ll also get you to think about leadership.
