Argylle is the latest film from director Matthew Vaughan and writer Jason Fuchs. Set in the world of Kingsman (do you remember the multiple movies from this franchise?), you’re in for a milder, tamer version of those films. 

Enter the world of Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), a reclusive author with a special knack for revealing real-world happenings in her novels. Her main character, Argylle (Henry Cavill), is a special agent. He’s had adventures in multiple books, but Elly’s soon-to-be-released book is missing something special.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Green Lantern: Emerald Knights

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is an engaging animated film. Hailing from DC Comics, the film has the Green Lantern Corps’ home planet of Oa under attack. Hal Jordan (Nathan Fillion) prepares the new Green Lantern recruit Arisia (Elisabeth Moss) for the upcoming attack.

How Hal does this is interesting. Hal doesn’t send her to combat school, simulations, or anything like that. No, Hal recalls stories of the first Green Lantern and other Green Lanterns that have come before her.

She’s prepared for the upcoming battle by recalling history and what other Green Lanterns have done. 

This was a masterful way to share the history of the Green Lantern Corps, explain how things are done, and show viewers that there’s more than action for these DC heroes. It’s also a great way to teach the viewer impactful leadership lessons.   Read more...

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Iron Claw (The Von Erich Family)

In this edition of Reel Leadership, we focus on the 2023 A24 film The Iron Claw. The Iron Claw focuses on what may be considered the greatest family in professional wrestling. 

The Von Erichs consisted of Kevin Von Erich (Zac Efron), Kerry Von Erich (Jeremy Allen White), David Von Erich (Harris Dickinson), Mike Von Erich (Stanley Simons), and Chris Von Erich (not mentioned in the film). Kevin, Kerry, and David were terrific wrestlers. Mike… He struggled. Then, there was their father, Fritz Von Erich (Holt McCallany). He founded the World Class Championship Wrestling in Dallas, Texas. He was a powerful wrestler in his own right who pushed his children far beyond what he should have.

However, many believed the family was cursed.

Migration is the latest film from Universal Pictures and Illumination (you know, the people who brought us Minions and Despicable Me). The film tells the story of a family of mallards with an overprotective father, Mack (Kumail Nanjiani). He’s been mentally conditioned to see the worst outcome and has a victim mindset.

Because of this, his family has never left their New England pond.

It’s a story of growth, missteps, and family bonding. It’s also a story of leadership growth. Mack and his family grow throughout the movie. Each move they make toward Jamaica leads them on a new adventure with a new chance to grow.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Beekeeper

Pamela and I were invited to a special sneak preview of the upcoming movie The Beekeeper in IMAX format. In The Beekeeper, Jason Statham plays Adam Clay. Clay is a former Beekeeper, a powerful and top-secret organization that takes care of problems no one else can. He comes out of retirement after the only person who ever took care of him, Eloise Parker (Phylicia Rashad), committed suicide after being scammed by phishers.

This sets Clay on a deadly path. He tears through people in his way until he gets to the top of the food chain of the phishing scheme. 

The Beekeeper goes full throttle on the action, just like you’d expect from a Jason Statham movie. You’ll feel the whiplash as cars explode, bodies fall, and Clay seeks to right a wrong that shouldn’t have happened.  Read more...
