Quotes And Leadership Lessons From The Equalizer 3

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Denzel Washington returns for his third outing as Robert McCall. Robert is a former special agent who has come out of retirement to fight the thugs threatening his peaceful residence in Southern Italy.

He’s a gentle man with a brutal side that is unleashed whenever he or someone he cares about is threatened. As Vincent Quaranta (Andrea Scarduzio) and his brother Marco (Andrea Dodero) begin to terrorize the city he now wants to call home, he can’t take it anymore. He unleashes his own brand of violence as he attempts to clean out the corruption.

The Equalizer 3 is the third film in this action-packed series. You can find the first two films here. The good thing is you don’t have to watch the previous films to understand what’s happening in part three. The movie could stand by itself.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Brightburn

The best way to describe the movie Brightburn is this: Imagine a world where Clark Kent didn’t choose a path of good and becomes Superman. Instead, he chooses a path of selfishness. He chooses to use his powers to get what he wants.

The story is similar to Superman. A young couple, Tori (Elizabeth Banks) and Kyle Breyer (David Denman), are struggling with infertility. They long to have a child. Their house is filled with infertility books.

Jackson A. Dunn as Brandon Breyer in Brightburn

One night, Tori hears a loud crash outside of their home. The couple discovers a crashed spacecraft with a young baby inside (sounds a lot like Superman, right?). They raise the baby like he was their own child.

This child, Brandon (Jackson A. Dunn), feels a pull to the spacecraft hidden in the Breyer’s barn. Soon, Brandon realizes he’s not like other people. He has superhuman strength, eyes that can shoot lasers, and he can fly.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From X-Men: Dark Phoenix

A Reel Leadership Article

While Marvel Studios has been crushing superhero films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, 20th Century Fox has been building the X-Men universe through their X-Men films. X-Men: Dark Phoenix marks the 12th film set in their series.

X-Men: The Dark Phoenix is also the last X-Men film to be produced by 20th Century Fox (there is an upcoming New Mutants film that may be a part of this universe). It’s the swan song to what started many great adventures of the X-Men.

As we begin to enter the final films of the 20th Century Fox film universe, X-Men: Dark Phoenix is a fitting end to the series. You get an out of this world movie with a well-done ending.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Shazam!

A Reel Leadership Article

A month after the first Captain Marvel movie released, a second Captain Marvel movie released. You might not have realized this as the movie did not release under the Captain Marvel name. Instead, DC Comics released the movie as Shazam!

That’s right! Shazam was originally called Captain Marvel in 1939 under the Whiz Comics series published by Fawcett Comics. Over time, Captain Marvel transitioned to the name he is known by now, Shazam.

Enough with the history of Shazam. You may be wondering what the movie Shazam! is about. Well, let’s discuss that before we get into the leadership lessons from Shazam!

Shazam! tells the story of a young Billy Batson (Asher Angel) who became lost as a child. He bounces from foster home to foster home until he lands in the foster home of Victor (Cooper Andrews) and Rosa (Marta Milans) Vasquez.

Discovering The Power Of Reinventing Yourself In A New Year

The start of a new year offers you the illusion of something special. A new start. A fresh start.

While there’s nothing different on January 1st than on July 7th (other than it’s Pam’s birthday), we tend to take special actions at the beginning of a new year.

You have the choice to make a difference

We set New Year Resolutions. We resolve to make big changes in our lives. Or we dream about what a different life would look like.

But why is January 1st the special day? It’s because we clear the sheets from last year and see the possibilities of a new year. We look at January 1st as special because the date helps us to make a clean break.

You don’t have to use January 1st to make your clean break. You can break free at any time and create a new you.
