Wisdom For Success In Business And Life – An Interview With Marc Demetriou

  1. Lessons from My Grandfather shares insights into business and life from your grandfather Charlie Pistis. Why did you choose your grandfather as the inspiration for the book?

My grandfather was my best friend and mentor. He was an amazing man who left home at 16 by himself, determined to make something of himself and be someone in this world. He advanced in life purely because of who he was: hardworking, honest, passionate, likable and a friend to all!

The Changing Landscape Of Education And What It Means For Your Organization With Derek Magill

Answers From Leadership Podcast 44

Derek Magill is a college dropout. But don’t let that make you think Derek doesn’t know what’s going on.

Derek realized something during his time in school. He was learning more outside of the classroom. His classmates were there for the credit hours. And a successful career is not made from humanities courses.

The landscape of education is changing

Then, he went on to work on a campaign for a US congressional race. To selling guns. To doing photography. Derek’s been able to work with incredible businesses around the United States all without a college degree.

In episode 44 of the Answers From Leadership Podcast, Derek and I discuss what the changing landscape of education looks like and what that looks like for organizations today. Listen in and discover why apprenticeships are the next big thing in business.

4 Quick Ways To Enhance Your Leadership Skills

Every leader should constantly be looking to enhance their leadership skills. Without growth, you’re dead in the leadership game.

That’s why you must continue to learn and expand your skills.

Level up your leadership skills

We can quickly enhance our leadership skills by doing the following 4 things:

4 Quick Ways To Enhance Your Leadership Skills

  1. Begin leading right nowWant to increase your leadership skills? Stop lurking in the background and begin leading today. There are multiple non-profit organizations that are looking for men and women to step up and lead. Offer your services to one of these organizations and let your time serving help increase your leadership skills.
  2. Never stop learningYou’ve got to continue learning to increase your skills.

Plenty of books have been written about leadership. Study the greats like Michael Hyatt, Dale Carnegie, John Maxwell, and more. These men have created content that you can consume and use.

Attend conferences and workshops. These events offer multiple opportunities to hear from the best and brightest. Go there and learn!

If you stop learning once you’ve got your degree or title, you’re not going to lead for long.

6 Ways Leaders Continue To Grow

Our pursuit of growth shouldn’t end when we graduate high school or college. Nor should it end when we are bestowed with the title of leadership.

No, leaders must be intentional about their growth.

Young leaders may wonder what can they do to continue their growth. They’ve already taken the courses that were required. They’ve pursued higher education. They’ve gone to training.

Truth be told, there’s a lot we can do to continue to grow. In this post you’ll discover 6 ways leaders can continue growing.

How To Continue Growing

1. Discover Mentors: One of the quickest ways to grow is to find a mentor for your life. Leaders know there are many different areas of their lives that could use improvement. You can find mentors for almost any area of life you want to grow in.

Why You Need A Guide

You’re constantly going through new experiences, struggles, and trials. Sometimes you’ll feel fear, frustration, anxiousness.

You may know where you want to go but you don’t know the path. Ever been there?

I have. Multiple times.

Not knowing what the path holds. The dangers. The pain. The frustration.

We never know what’s coming on the new paths that we’re taking.

But others have gone before us. They’ve blazed a trail. They know the way!

If you’ve ever been whitewater rafting, you know this to be true.

You’re ushered onto a raft and set off into the rushing river. But you’re not alone.

The guide is on the back of the raft. He’s been on the river multiple times. He knows it like the back of his hand.
