Finding Purpose And Meaning In Leadership

As a Christian leader, I believe everyone has a purpose and meaning for their lives. Everyone was created for something special in this world. In Ephesians 2:10, the Bible tells us that we are Christ’s workmanship. We are created in Christ Jesus for good works (purpose).

You and I… We were not created by accident. We were created for something.

While I believe this purpose and meaning comes from the lives we live, we can find purpose and meaning in the things that we do. Including the organizations and people we lead. There’s a purpose and meaning behind this!

Finding Purpose And Meaning In Leadership

It’s funny that I’m writing this article when I am. The morning I was writing this, I began to take a look back on my leadership and writing journey. I began to think of the people I started this journey with.

Welcome to the another installment of the Christmas At The Movies Reel Leadership series. In partnership with The Gateway Church, I’ve been writing about the life and leadership lessons from classic Christmas movies while the church has been preaching on them. This week, The Gateway Church dove into A Charlie Brown Christmas but I thought it was going to be It’s A Wonderful Life. Because of this snafu, you get an extra Christmas At The Movies Reel Leadership post. The film is one of those OG Christmas movies released in 1946. That puts it at almost 80 years old.

The Impact Of Gratitude On A Leader’s Life

As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s never more appropriate to consider the impact of gratitude on our lives, especially as a leader. There’s so much to be thankful for and so much we take for granted.

Have you ever been led by someone who lacked gratitude? You could tell, couldn’t you? They walked around with a sour look on their face, their actions displayed disdain to those around them, and there was this sense of tension in the air.

A person that lacks gratitude is hard to be around. Do you know what’s even harder? Being around a leader who lacks gratitude.

It’s impressive what gratitude can do for you. According to the Mayo Clinic, studies have shown that feeling thankful can improve sleep, mood, and immunity. On top of that, when you are grateful, you decrease depression, anxiety, difficulties with chronic pain, and the risk of disease!

5 Examples Of Leaders From The Bible

When I think of great leaders, I think of the myriad of leaders in the Bible. You can’t get away from the fact that while the people highlighted in the Bible were flawed, many of them were examples of great leadership.

People like Moses, King David, Abraham, Esther, and more… These people had their issues (just like you and me), but they also had the makings of great leaders.

I want to focus on some of the great people in the Bible and what their example can be for us today as leaders.

Deborah:

Women were overlooked for far too long in the church and leadership sphere. Yet, the Bible is clear that many of the women in the Bible were leaders.

Take Deborah, for example.

Denzel Washington returns for his third outing as Robert McCall. Robert is a former special agent who has come out of retirement to fight the thugs threatening his peaceful residence in Southern Italy.

He’s a gentle man with a brutal side that is unleashed whenever he or someone he cares about is threatened. As Vincent Quaranta (Andrea Scarduzio) and his brother Marco (Andrea Dodero) begin to terrorize the city he now wants to call home, he can’t take it anymore. He unleashes his own brand of violence as he attempts to clean out the corruption.

The Equalizer 3 is the third film in this action-packed series. You can find the first two films here. The good thing is you don’t have to watch the previous films to understand what’s happening in part three. The movie could stand by itself.
