Let It Go

Every person has been hurt at one point or another in their lives. Some people will hold onto these hurts longer than they should. I know… I was one of those people.

Our past hurts will hurt us as long as we let them. They will fester and grow if we continue to feed them. And these hurts will cause us to hurt other people.

I’m not sure who said it but there’s a famous quote about hurt people. It goes:

Hurt people, hurt people.

Hurt People, Hurt People

This quote is true. Hurt people will hurt other people, either intentionally or unintentionally. The pain and bitterness one has from a past hurt will rise up and lash out at those you are near.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Free Solo

A Reel Leadership Article

On June 3rd, 2017, Alex Honnold did the impossible. Alex free-soloed the 3,000 foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Free-soloing is the climbing of a rock-face without the use of any safety equipment. Alex had no harness, no safety net, nothing to catch him if he were to fall.

Such a feat seems nigh-impossible. To climb 3,000 feet into the air without safety equipment makes my mind hurt. It may make yours as well.

Having a passion for ice climbing, Free Solo caught my attention because of the high-risk behavior and the excitement of someone doing the impossible. Knowing there are people out there who are willing to risk life and limb to do what no other person is willing to do fascinates me.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Robin Hood

A Reel Leadership Article

There’s scant few who don’t know the story of Robin Hood. Robin Hood steals from the rich to give to the poor. Now, moviegoers have another telling of the Robin Hood story.

Set in the distant past, Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton of Kingsman) is drafted into a war that seems eerily reminiscent of the war in Iraq. Proclaimed to be dead by the Sheriff of Nottingham (Ben Mendelsohn), Robin returns to find Loxley decimated. The Sheriff is taxing citizens to the breaking point. And there’s no one standing up to the evil man.

There was quite a bit to like in the new Robin Hood movie. The action spurred the movie on. You never felt a dull moment. The characters were decently developed and I felt for Robin as he returned from battle (and death) to discover the love of his life, Marian (Eve Hewson) had moved on and started a relationship with Will Scarlet (Jamie Dornan).
