Leadership Reflections From The Amway River Bank Run 2023

I participated in the Amway River Bank 25K run this past Sunday. It’s an annual event that was started in 1978. The race, a 15.5-mile stroll through downtown Grand Rapids and more, is one of scenic beauty. You run past the John Ball Park Zoo, along the river bank, and back into the city. Every part of the run can take your breath away.

Over the years, the sponsors have changed. It started as the Old Kent River Bank Run, transitioned into the Fifth Third River Bank Run, and is now the Amway River Bank Run. There’s a lot of history in the race and people are proud.

Something unique about the race is the distance. You hear about 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon but the 25k is an elusive distance. It’s one that brings in runners from all across the country. Over 10,000 people ran in this race. It’s quite the experience to run with that many people!  Read more...

Army Of Darkness is the third film in the Evil Dead series. Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) has been transported back in time to approximately 1300 A.D. after the events of Evil Dead 2. He now finds himself in the time of Lord Arthur (Marcus Gilbert).

Ash finds himself in the past just as Lord Arthur and Duke Henry the Red (Richard Grove) have entered into a feud. No background is given to the feud but you know it is bad. Lord Arthur’s men are bringing back Henry’s men after a skirmish. They are to be put to death.

5 Leadership Lessons From A Comic-Con

Last weekend I got to experience something I’ve always longed to do: Attend a comic-con.

This one wasn’t a big convention like the San Diego or New York Comic-Con. It was a much smaller one that still packed a punch.

1. You don’t have to be perfect to lead

If you know anything about the comic book world, there’s a lot of fans who love to show their adoration of the characters by dressing up in cosplay for conventions. This comic con was no different.

There were plenty of fans dressed up as their favorite characters. I remember seeing Captain America, the Ghostbusters, Winter Solider, and many more comic book and TV characters.  Read more...
