5 Leadership Books To Read In September 2023

I share some of the best leadership books I’ve read or heard about every month. More often than not, I’ve listened to multiple great audiobooks throughout the month.

Thanks to Audible’s Plus program, I had a library of audiobooks at my disposal with my membership. I took full advantage of that.

Today, I’m bringing you the best of the bunch I listened to. I hope you’re ready to expand your library, as these books will change your leadership and life if you let them.

5 Leadership Books To Read In September 2023

1. The Art Of Leadership: Small Things, Done Well by Michael Lopp

Michael Lopp has been around the block of large organizations. Lopp has been involved with Netscape (remember that internet browser?!?), Apple, and Slack. He’s led large and small teams. And now he’s sharing his knowledge with us.

Book Review: Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking

My wife and I tend to be on the total opposite ends of the introvert/extrovert spectrum. She’s quiet and has trouble around crowds. Me, I like to be in the midst of large groups, mingling with others.

So I was excited when I saw the book Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking (Affiliate link, I get paid a small commission if you click this link and purchase the book) by Susan Cain. My hope was it could shine some light on the differences between introverts and extroverts and how being an introvert could be a good trait to have.

What Is Quiet?

How did we go from Character to Personality without realizing we had sacrificed something meaningful along the way?

Book Review: Wisdom Meets Passion by Dan Miller and Jared Angaza

Yesterday the world ran on formulas – on all things black and white with tried-and-true wisdom. Today things run on dreams and are covered in gray and fueled by passion. But as it turns out, formulas don’t work well without feeling, and dreams don’t come true without dedication. Enter Wisdom Meets Passion, offering proof that when generations – and their beliefs – come together, something incredible can happen.

Wisdom Meets Passion

That’s the synopsis of Dan Miller and Jared Angaza’s new book Wisdom Meets Passion. It’s their combined effort to show the world that you can’t live your life with only wisdom or passion. You must combine both of them and live a life full of wisdom and passion.

My Expectations:

I’ve been a huge fan of Dan’s. His book 48 Days To The Work You Love helped me launch this blog and move forward in new and unexpected ways. My eyes were open to new avenues of revenue and work.

Book Review: This thing of ours: How faith saved my mafia marriage

This week we take a day to celebrate love, on the 14th it will be Valentine’s Day. During this week I will be posting on a subject that I have been wanting to for awhile, relationships. First up is a book review regarding a Mafia marriage.

A dancer named Cammy meets Michael Franzese. She soon falls in love and marries Michael. Little does she know that he has ties to the mafia.

This Thing of Ours: How Faith Saved My Mafia Marriage tells this story.

Cammy Franzese recounts her experience of meeting and marrying Michael. From meeting Michael on the set of a movie where she was a dancer, to the lavish dates, to the knock on the door and the police officers that greet her, to the times Michael was behind bars serving times for crimes he committed.

Book Review – How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

If you are a returning visitor, do not be alarmed. The blog has changed. I updated to the Standard Theme and cannot wait to see what it offers. If you are new to the site, I hope you will enjoy the look and the content of the site.

Now, lets dive into today’s content!

One of the most influential books I have read has to be How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. How To Win Friends and Influence People was originally published in 1936. Today, it is still highly regarded as a must read book for communicators.

How To Win Friends and Influence People has been reprinted many times. The copy I read was published in 1981.

With the help of Dale’s wife, Dorothy Carnegie, it has been revised to include more modern examples of people who have applied the principles in the book. If you find differences in my review from the book you have, this may be why.
