Have You Decided What The New Year Will Look Like?

It’s nearing the end of the year. There are only 27 more days until we ring in 2025. How did we get here so quickly?
It doesn’t matter in the end. But what matters is what you’re planning for this coming year.

Why does it matter? Because the way you plan for the new year will be the way the new year goes.

Have You Decided What The New Year Will Look Like?

Our lives are a compilation of the choices we make.

We can choose to drink the 40oz beer with the guys. Pack on the calories with the beer, deal with the hangover tomorrow morning, and feel horrible about what we might have done. Or we can choose to abstain and have a flavored water instead. The next day, we remember everything we did. There’s no hangover. We still had a great time with our friends.

We can gorge ourselves at Pizza Ranch (I’m looking at myself here). The rest of the day, we feel bloated and over-stuffed, not to mention the extra pounds we gained from all the extra calories. Or we eat from the salad bar. We choose sensible, low-calorie choices there. The Romaine lettuce was crisp. The vinaigrette satisfied our sauce cravings. We walk away, feeling that we made a good choice.

These decisions typically don’t start that day. They’ve been there. There’s been a plan to lose weight, avoid alcohol, or be kinder to people.

That’s the nice thing about the new year. The new year is an easy jumping on point for making better decisions. We can plan out what we desire for the coming year. We can choose better habits, words, and actions.

How To Have A Better New Year

You have to plan to have a better new year. That means making the right decisions and laying the groundwork for what is to come.

What does that look like? Consider these things as you decide what the new year will look like.

Daily habits:

Where have you struggled with your daily habits? What could be better in your life? Decide to create daily habits that will benefit your health, wealth, and mind.

The better your daily habits, the better your life will be.

Goals:

Have you clearly defined your goals? While you can do this at any time in the year, crafting goals that motivate you will get your year off to a great start.

Find and create goals that will inspire you, move you, and get you going. It may be learning something new daily (maybe you take a MasterClass to learn a new skill or improve an old one), running your first marathon, or growing your team.

You have to have goals if you want to have a better year this year than last.

Schedule:

Our schedules get packed with things that aren’t important. They’re just there to fill the space.

This year, choose to schedule what’s important, protect your time from what isn’t, and be intentional about what you’re doing and when you’re doing it.

The better you schedule, the better your year can be.

Have A Great New Year

With these tips, you can find yourself having a much better new year than you have in the past. Don’t neglect the coming year as a way to change your life. The more intentional you are, the more direction you will have.
