Your Name Is On The Line

We looked for a company to install foam insulation in our house for years. Finally, we decided upon a company.

They did a great job. The insulation company’s employees were timely. They cleaned up any mess that they made. They even noted an issue with our siding.

Everything seemed to be great. My wife and I were thrilled with the difference the new insulation made.

We were so happy, we referred the company to friends and friends of friends.

Now, we regret this decision.

Your Name Is On The Line

While everything went well with our foam insulation installation, minus a minor issue, one of our referrals is having quite a time with the foam insulation company. They have had personal property broken and damage to their home. Multiple phone calls, missed appointments, and more and still the issue is not resolved.  Read more...

It’s hard to believe James Cameron’s Avatar movie was released 13 years ago. There have been plans for multiple sequels ever since. This past weekend saw the first sequel realized.

Avatar: The Way Of Water splashed into theaters around the world. It’s well on its way to making more fans. And I’m one of those.

The movie takes us back to the world of Pandora. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is now living with his family on the alien planet. He’s taken a Na’vi partner, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), and spawned many children. Their world is looking great.

That is, until the humans return.

Ugh, Bob in accounting is so difficult to work with. Man, Sally in sales won’t do her work. These people are so hard to deal with.

You may hear these types of complaints from your team. They’re trying to work hard but can’t get their jobs done. All they see are the problems the Bobs and Sallys are creating.

It’s a trainwreck.

But it’s not. Did you know you can succeed with difficult people? You can, and it’s not that difficult.

Dealing With Difficult People

The first thing that comes to mind when you have to deal with difficult people is to put them in their place or, as Donald Trump was known for saying, you’re fired. That’s the easy route. There’s a better route to take when dealing with difficult people.

The movie Devotion is about the first African-American aviator in U.S. Navy history. Jesse LeRoy Brown (Jonathan Majors, who will play Kang The Conquerer in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) fought discrimination, trials, and struggles to become something very few thought he could be.

Devotion is a truly inspirational movie. It’s one of the most moving films I’ve seen in a long time. It’s also sad that Devotion won’t get the recognition it deserves.

Devotion isn’t as visually appealing as Top Gun: Maverick. Yet, the story is more powerful.

This is a movie that needs to be seen. It’s a story that needs to be told (and it was in this movie and a book).
