Entertainment… The traditional line of thought with entertainment is that it is a mindless activity. There’s no redeeming value.

Maybe you’ve heard other leadership experts talk about entertainment in a negative light. I know I have.

However, entertainment, and movies in particular, don’t have to be a mindless activity. Movies can be an extremely valuable way of growing your leadership skills.

Today, we’re going to look at 5 questions leaders should ask when watching a movie.

5 Questions Leaders Should Ask When Watching A Movie

1. What would I do in the character’s position?

Movies give us an excellent opportunity to ask ourselves questions. One of those questions should be “What would I do in that character’s position?”

You are poised and ready with a new business idea and are ready to start taking the next steps in your business journey.

A few times in life, you might feel you are fulfilling your passion, and launching a company is one of them.

The feelings and long nights involved with the ideation, creation, product sourcing, and other moving parts for your new business give you a buzz.

Motivation and ideas arriving in the middle of the night as your business slowly takes shape.

Why Changing Directions Isn’t A Waste

We’ve all seen the memes about how close we can be to success when we turn around. They show a man with a mining ax digging furiously through dirt and rock to reach a giant diamond or a stash of gold. The miner turns around. He’s discouraged because he hasn’t broken through to the other side. We see the reality. There’s the stash. It’s JUST beyond the thin wall of dirt and stone.

Below him is another picture. The same situation is playing out. The miner is going at it furiously. He’s breaking through to the reward of all his hard work. He breaks the wall and is able to reap the rewards of everything he’s done to get there.

I remember watching the original Suicide Squad movie at a now-defunct movie theater. The theater was a classic but it didn’t last. The theater was hot, humid, and almost unbearable to be in. That seemed to be the overall opinion most people held for the original Suicide Squad movie.

This new film, The Suicide Squad, seemed to hit on most of the things I really enjoy about movies. I think it helped that James Gunn was directing the movie. The Suicide Squad felt familiar, almost Guardians Of The Galaxy-like. The major difference was the level of violence and gore. The Suicide Squad has a lot of that.

But what is The Suicide Squad? They are a group of the most dangerous supervillains in the world. These guys are the worst of the worst. Yet, many of these villains you have never heard of.

Your team members are the lifeblood of your organization, whether or not you want to admit this. They are the people your customers see. They’re the ones dealing with the day-to-day issues. And they’re the ones who create the biggest impressions upon your customers.

You don’t want team members who don’t care. They will repel the customers you desire and keep your organization from reaching the level of success it should.

Watching The Peanut Butter Falcon, a quote from Shia LaBeouf’s character Tyler was talking with Dakota Johnson’s character Eleanor. He was frustrated with the way Eleanor was treating Zak, the young man who changed both their lives.
