It’s Time For A Leadership PEP Talk

In many schools you’ll find a pep squad. The goal of the pep squad is to raise the school spirit and make people proud of their school.

You may also have had pep talks growing up. Someone shares a few words of wisdom with you, hoping to raise your spirits.

I don’t know when your last pep talk was but I think it’s time for a leadership P.E.P. talk today.

Whoa. Did you see there was something a bit different with the P.E.P. talk I’m talking about? It looks like an acronym.

You’d be right in thinking this way. This P.E.P. talk is going to be a little different but I think it’s going to help you.

Today’s P.E.P. talk is going to be an encouragement to lead well. Maybe even lead better than ever before.

20 Encouraging Bible Verses For Young Leaders. #10 Is My Favorite.

Leading is never an easy proposition. Add being young to leadership and you can easily feel overwhelmed.

Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed, I know I can turn to the word of God for a bit of encouragement. The good book is full of encouragement for young leaders (and people in general).

If you’re not a believer, I strongly believe you can still find the words of the Bible encouraging.

Let’s take a look at the 20 verses I believe can encourage young leaders.

The following scripture verses will help encourage you. They’ll also challenge you to lead well. I hope you find them as encouraging and uplifting as I do.

1. Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12

Do You Need A Big Following?

Do you dream of having hundreds, no thousands, no millions of followers? People who will listen to what you have to say and follow every piece of advice you lay out before them?

This sounds like a dream come true. With a huge following, you’ve made it to the big time. Everyone wants a piece of you.

One of my recent TV addictions has been the TV show The Following. The protagonist is Joe Carroll, an author, teacher, and serial killer. He’s also generated a massive following from behind bars.

His followers include police officers, school teachers, nannies, and more.

Carroll’s followers rival anything I’ve ever seen before. You can’t turn anywhere in this TV universe without running into one of them.

For Carroll, this was a partial Nirvana. He had people who loved and adored him.

What To Do When You Fail To Meet Expectations

It’s going to happen. One day you’re going to let someone down.

This letdown may be your coworkers, your boss, your spouse, your parents, or some other important person in your life. The truth of the matter is you’re going to disappoint them at some point.

We all do it. We might as well be open and honest about this truth. Once we’re honest with ourselves, we can create a plan of action for what we can do when we fail to meet expectations.

Whenever we let someone down, there’s the pang of guilt. We know we didn’t uphold our end of the bargain. The ball was dropped. We were a disappointment.

We’ll often scramble to create an excuse as to why we failed to meet the expectations someone had for us. We’ll throw out excuses. We’ll blame others. We’ll clam up.
