A Way Of Doing The Things Right!

It is not always easy to do the right things in your life. Life is unexpected, erratically and many times blind to your intentions and plans.

This is the reason why you should always have a Doing The Things Right (DTR) Foundation Scheme (a compass if you like!), that would lead you to do the things right, at every case. The foundation scheme, I’m talking about is not only a moral one (should be nice to exist, in every case, though!) but it is a more generalized scheme, including all the personal and professional sections of your life. It is not easy, there are not fixed or ready-made templates, and there are only a handful of resources you can use for its construction, but you have to make it for you own, in order to suit your needs.

A scheme as that, should include, your:

Is Amazon Prime Still Worth The Cost?

That’s the million dollar question being asked by many Amazon Prime subscribers, including myself, after Amazon announced a price increase to their Amazon Prime membership service.

This shouldn’t come as a shock to most as Amazon hasn’t raised the price on Amazon Prime since it was introduced nine years ago. Yet many people are shocked and frustrated with the price increase, from $79 a year to $99 a year, an increase of $20.

Amazon Prime Increase makes me frown

When Pam and I decided to cut the cable subscription just over a year ago, we decided we’d go with Amazon Prime because of their movie and TV show streaming. The cost was right and we were also given free 2 day shipping with any purchases fulfilled by Amazon. Great for those impulse purchases.

But now we’ve got to rethink whether or not we’ll continue Amazon Prime once our yearly membership is up.

You Can’t Care For Others If You Won’t Care For Yourself

One of the prime goals of a leader should be to care for others. Whether it’s through the desire to influence someone to perform better or to see someone accomplish their lifelong goals, we have to care to help people succeed.

Yet we so often forget to care for one person in particular. This person is very valuable and requires attention to perform at peak levels.

That person is YOU! Yes, YOU! You need to care for yourself.

Yes, we must be aware of the needs and desires of others. We must be willing to step forward and care for them. Though not at the expense of your health or mental well-being.

Winter is coming to an end soon and as you know the flu season has been a nasty one this year. Lots of sickness being spread around the offices.

2 Leadership Scorecards

Recently I had a dream. This dream wasn’t crazy. It didn’t involve red aliens attacking from Mars.

Nah, nothing like that. Though that would have been one heck of a dream.

This dream had to do with a scorecard. A leadership scorecard. Actually, truth be told, there were 2.

The first scorecard looked something like this:

X Ignores team members

X Discards the needs of his team

X Shuns the input of his team

X Refuses to accept responsibilities for failures

X Has become complacent with his level of knowledge

X Hasn’t presented a new idea in ages

X Chooses the old ways over new paths

X Hires people who he believes knows less than he does

X Takes away any chance of organizational advancement

Now, the second scorecard looked quite different. The second scorecard looked like this:
