Have You Really Invested in Kony 2012?

By now you have probably heard about Kony 2012.

It is a movement started by Invisible Children to capture the leader of the LRA, Joseph Kony.

Kony has, for years, been part of the kidnapping and turning young boys into killers. It is a sad story that Invisible Children has brought to light through the Kony 2012 video.

The video has become a YouTube sensation. Over 40 million views. You or your friends have probably shared it on YouTube.

If you have not yet seen the video, you may do so below.

Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person.
— Albert Einstein

Social Media makes it easy to feel like you have invested in a cause.

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes.

— Eleanor Roosevelt

Are You Watching Your Attitude Indicator?

If you have ever seen the inside of an airplane cockpit, you know that there is an instrument panel.

The instrument panel contains many different gauges and switches. One of these is the Attitude Indicator.

You may be asking “What purpose does an attitude indicator serve?”

The main purpose of the attitude indicator is to tell the pilot the orientation of the airplane relative to earth. Whether the nose is up or the nose is down.

This is important knowledge to have because it affects the performance of the airplane.

If the nose is up, the plane slows and starts to ascend. Nose down and the plane increases in speed and descends.

Could you imagine what would happen if the pilot did not know whether the nose was up or down?

Just like the airplane, YOU need to have an attitude indicator.

Accidents Happen

On Saturday, the weather turned nasty. Winter had arrived once again in Michigan. We received between 3-7 inches of snow within a few hours. Driving became a brave undertaking.

This happened as we had to make a 45 minute trip back from my sister’s home. It was not a pleasant trip. The normal 45 minutes took us 120 minutes.

The roads were treacherous. And we slowed down and drove with extreme caution. Even going as slow as 25mph on the highway.

At one point, I hit a patch of black ice. The truck was only traveling at a speed of 25-30mph. It was too fast.

Our truck started to fishtail. It swung from the driving lane to the passing lane and back again. We came close to hitting concrete barriers.

Thankfully we avoided an accident but it scared me.
