We’ve all been there. It’s another day doing the same thing at your job and you’re about to nod off to sleep. You’re wondering what you can do to stay awake and break this boredom.

Today, I’ll share five ideas on how to break the boredom of the office. Some of these we’ve done in our own office, others just sound interesting.

I’ll be listing these in my order of least favorite to most favorite.

5. Exit Your Desk And Mingle: Engaging in conversation can break the doldrums of the office blues. You never know what could happen when you strike up a conversation. Something a coworker says could spark an idea for the project you’re working on or you may find that you have something in common with a coworker that you never knew about. It’s a great way to get your creative juices flowing.

What Are You Fueling Your Mind With?

Just like your body requires fuel to function, your mind requires fuel to be creative and process information.

Today, I’d like to talk about what you are fueling your mind with. Is it racing fuel or is it gasoline that has been polluted?

What kind of thoughts and ideas do you like to have? Most likely you would like to think positive thoughts and ideas. Would you like to be an encouragement to others? Would you like others to think of you in a positive light? Now, do you think others think of you in this way?

If not, it’s most likely due to the fuel that you’re putting into your mind. The old saying “Garbage in, garbage out” is truer than you know. Research shows that your brain retains nearly everything that you’ve seen. This can cause quite a bit of trouble if you’re constantly watching, reading, or listening to things that are destructive.

Catalyst Conference East Review

I’d first like to congratulate Ryan Knight of Small Group Books for winning the Courageous poster from my movie review post. I hope you will enjoy it!

Last week my wife, a couple of friends, and I headed down to Atlanta, GA for the Catalyst Conference. This year was the first year we attended the event and it is an event that we will try to attend yearly or bi-yearly.

The theme of the conference was “Be Present”. Catalyst had volunteers dressed up as bees and presents for a cute play on the theme. They also were very generous. It seemed as if every where you went someone was handing you a free book, shirt, or other item.

What’s Your Challenge?

Throughout your life you’ll come across many challenges. Some will be small, some will be quite large, some will be of your own choosing. You’ve probably faced the challenge of crossing a busy street, playing sports with someone better than you, or overcoming your fear of the dentist. In the grand scheme of things, these are pretty small challenges to overcome.

Some of you have faced challenges that were much more difficult than those listed. You may have faced broken hearts, severe broken bones, or even cancer. These challenges are quite large and can take quite a toll on you. Many of these challenges were not by choice.

Is It Time To Take Action?

I have a question for you. What are you doing with the information you’re taking in? Are you reading books about business, finance, or leadership? Are you listening to podcasts? How long have you been reading or listening to these items? Have you applied the ideas you’ve read about into your daily life?

I’ll admit, I struggle with this and it’s one of the reasons I started this blog. I’ve been reading, listening, and watching so much information and doing nothing with it. Keeping it to myself doesn’t help anyone else. Keeping what YOU know is not helping anyone else. I highly encourage you to be sharing what you know and are learning with others.

Here’s how you can do it-
