DC Comics has long struggled with live-action movies. An area they shine in outside of their comics? The animated movies they release.

Their animated movies have been packed full of action, meaning, and style. They should continue to focus on it while developing their live-action films. They’re in good hands with James Gunn heading the new DC Cinematic Universe. Until that time, we get to enjoy the excellent animation they’re putting out.

Many people have said the Marvel Cinematic Universe has faltered lately. Sure, there have been flops with movies like The Eternals, but I believe the MCU is still going strong.

The latest film in the MCU, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, proves that.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania takes one of Marvel’s tiniest heroes to the big screen for the third time. His first movie was fantastic. The second movie in the Ant-Man franchise fell flat. But… But… Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania brings back the character and fun we all loved from the original film.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania occurs many years after the first two movies. Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) has returned from The Snap caused by Thanos. He’s still struggling to connect with his daughter, Cassie Lang/Stature/Stinger (Kathryn Newton), because of the missed time with her. Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Brightburn

The best way to describe the movie Brightburn is this: Imagine a world where Clark Kent didn’t choose a path of good and becomes Superman. Instead, he chooses a path of selfishness. He chooses to use his powers to get what he wants.

The story is similar to Superman. A young couple, Tori (Elizabeth Banks) and Kyle Breyer (David Denman), are struggling with infertility. They long to have a child. Their house is filled with infertility books.

One night, Tori hears a loud crash outside of their home. The couple discovers a crashed spacecraft with a young baby inside (sounds a lot like Superman, right?). They raise the baby like he was their own child.

This child, Brandon (Jackson A. Dunn), feels a pull to the spacecraft hidden in the Breyer’s barn. Soon, Brandon realizes he’s not like other people. He has superhuman strength, eyes that can shoot lasers, and he can fly.  Read more...

Last Friday Marvel released their blockbuster hit The Avengers. It opened to rave reviews and has broken box office records.

But that’s not all. It tells the story Earth’s mightiest heroes.

The last couple of years we have seen the individual stories of the Avengers. Captain America, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor have all stared in their own movies and faced battles that only they could win.

There is a new threat. These great superheroes are faced with a challenge none of them can defeat by themselves. Thus, Nick Fury has formed the Avengers Initiative. A team of what is to be Earth’s mightiest heroes. A team that the world needs desperately.  Read more...

It’s Not Easy Being a Superhero

Everyone loves a good story.

We’re often drawn to protagonists like Indiana Jones, Captain America, the Green Lantern, or Superman.

Why do we love characters like these? I believe it is because their story mimics our story.

They have problems:

  • Indiana Jones faces snakes and bad guys that want the treasure he is after
  • Captain America is thrust into a world he is unfamiliar with. Years have passed by and he is unchanged. The world is not.
  • The Green Lantern is self-absorbed and given the responsibility to protect Earth. He has to learn to control his emotions.
  • Superman has his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. He has love issues. He’s an alien.
