Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

Walking out of the theater after seeing Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, all I can say is WOW. That movie took me back to the feelings I had when I saw the original Ghostbusters movie. It was a nostalgic romp.

Taking place after Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters Frozen Empire continues the story of Phoebe Spengler (Mckenna Grace), Trevor Spengler (Finn Wolfhard), Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd, and Callie Spengler (Carrie Coon). They’ve now moved to New York and into the old firehouse the original Ghostbusters used.

There’s teenage angst as Phoebe is told she’s too young to be a Ghostbuster. There are laughs and cheap thrills, and there are even returning Ghostbusters that will make you cheer.

But what’s happening in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire?

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always

A Reel Leadership Article

My latest book, Reel Leadership, is now available on Amazon. If you love movies and leadership, you will love this book.

I haven’t watched Power Rangers in quite some time but I have fond memories of the Fox television series from my youth. It was a crazy combination of US actors mixed with sequences from the Japanese series Super Sentai. I always considered it a Voltron knockoff but discovered that the live-action Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Japanese counterpart was released before the animated Voltron series.

My mind was blown.

Now, 30 years later, my mind is blown once again. Netflix released a short film to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the television series that changed weekday afternoons. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since American youth were introduced to these characters. They’ve gone through many generations, but one phrase stands true:

Once a ranger, always a ranger.

Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Ghostbusters

A Reel Leadership Article

For years, more than 25, there have been rumors of a new Ghostbusters movie. Well, the new Ghostbusters is here.

And I was, and am, excited about the new movie.

I have fond memories of the original Ghostbusters. The cast was stellar.

We had Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson as the team battling ghosts. And, we can’t forget, making us laugh.

We don’t see the original team reform in what I like to call Ghostbusters 2016. Instead, we see a whole new team.

The new Ghostbusters is not a sequel. It’s a reboot with an all-female ghostbusting team. One that surprised me more than disappointed.

So, I want to share, as usual, the leadership lessons and quotes I found in the new Ghostbusters movie. Are you ready?

14 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Independence Day: Resurgence

A Reel Leadership Article

Much like Finding Dory, Independence Day: Resurgence was a long-awaited sequel. One many people thought would be released a few years after the original.

Now, we’re 20 years past the release of Independence Day. And we finally have the sequel we’d expected.

Many of the original cast members have returned for Independence Day: Resurgence. Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, and Judd Hirsch (notable for his role in Numbers) all returned.

The notable exception was the main star of Independence Day: Will Smith.

We’re given a passable reason on why Will Smith is not in Independence Day: Resurgence. His character, Captain Steve Hiller, had died.

Knowing that Will Smith would not be in this movie has turned away a lot of potential viewers. Smith, himself, even says he regrets not taking on the role once more.

15 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From Warcraft The Movie

A Reel Leadership Article

Warcraft is the latest video game to movie adaptation. The basis for the movie? Orcs invade the world of humans and chaos breaks out.

Having been a big gamer, I was excited to see the Warcraft movie. This adaptation brought feelings of nostalgia for my video game days.

With that, I know there are people who may be confused in seeing Warcraft. This movie is based on the original 1994 Warcraft video game, not the more recent World Of Warcraft MMORPG.

Going in with that expectation, Warcraft exceeded what I thought the movie was going to be.

So, let’s get to the leadership lessons from Warcraft.

WARNING: Warcraft spoilers ahead

1. Use what other leaders have left behind: As Warcraft begins, we see a warrior pick up the shield of a fallen soldier. He found something useful the other man had left behind and he began to use it.
