Godzilla has been terrorizing audiences since 1954 when he debuted in Godzilla. Now, in 2023, it feels like he’s returned to his roots in Godzilla Minus One.

Godzilla Minus One is a complicated movie with lots of themes. Guilt, shame, love, loss, triumph, forgiveness, and more are packed into the two-hour, five-minute runtime.

The film is set in the 1940s during and after World War Two. Kamikazee pilot, Koichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki), returns his plane to a Japanese military repair outpost. The problem? Shikishima’s plane wasn’t damaged. He was fleeing from the battle and didn’t want to die. He wanted to survive.

Shortly upon landing, the irradiated monster Godzilla appears, killing most of the other soldiers on the island. This leaves Shikishima with more shame.  Read more...

It’s been 9 years since we visited the capital city of Panem, created by Suzanne Collins. In The Hunger Games, every year, there is a reaping (choosing of contestants) and The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a fight-to-the-death battle between the randomly chosen contestants of various districts. It’s a brutal way for the government to control the districts.

But The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes is different. We’re not at the 75th annual Hunger Games. We’re near the beginning, taking place during the 10th Hunger Games. The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes is a prequel to what has already come.

Quotes And Leadership Lessons From Expend4bles (The Expendables 4)

The Expendables team returns in their fourth outing. As usual, we see the regular gang Barney (Sylvester Stallone), Too Road (Randy Couture), Gunner (Dolph Lundgreen), and Christmas (Jason Statham). The rowdy bunch is joined by Easy Day (50 Cent), Gina (Megan Fox), Galan (Jacob Scipio), and Lash (Levy Tran). These team members make up a rollicking good time as they have to track down the biggest threat the team of Expendables has ever faced.

Expend4bles focuses on a new villain, Rahmat (Iko Uwais). His mission is to collect pieces of a nuclear bomb and start World War 3 (we’ve all seen this before!). 

But that’s okay. When we know what we’re getting into, we can have a lot of fun. As with any of the Expendables movies, you know what you’re getting into. Wacky, zany action from classic action stars, along with new ones.  Read more...

Denzel Washington returns for his third outing as Robert McCall. Robert is a former special agent who has come out of retirement to fight the thugs threatening his peaceful residence in Southern Italy.

He’s a gentle man with a brutal side that is unleashed whenever he or someone he cares about is threatened. As Vincent Quaranta (Andrea Scarduzio) and his brother Marco (Andrea Dodero) begin to terrorize the city he now wants to call home, he can’t take it anymore. He unleashes his own brand of violence as he attempts to clean out the corruption.

The Equalizer 3 is the third film in this action-packed series. You can find the first two films here. The good thing is you don’t have to watch the previous films to understand what’s happening in part three. The movie could stand by itself.  Read more...

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2019 film Shazam! opened recently. Shazam! Fury Of The Gods brings just as much fun to the theaters as the original film. The film continues Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) journey as the boy who says SHAZAM! and is turned into a superhero (Zachary Levi).

Critics have panned the movie. I think they don’t understand the point of film at times. Sure, Reel Leadership looks at the leadership aspect of movies, but movies can also entertain. They take us to a place we couldn’t go to before. Shazam! Fury Of The Gods brings us a lot of fun, laughs, and smiles throughout.

Go into the movie expecting to have fun, and you will. You can also go to the movie expecting to come out a better leader.  Read more...
